I like Captain Hernandez. She's got a lot of wit and sass and maturity. Some of the stuff with the virus was interesting, and it's nice that Malcolm is back on the bridge. I'm glad he kicked that Section 31 guy to the curb. That man meant well, but it seems that he was played for a fool and then he tried to cover his butt with Malcolm about it.

I had serious issues with Trip going along a cable between two giant starships travelling at multiples of the speed of light. It was incredibly silly and unbelievable, even by Trek standards.
Although I liked that they basically ripped of the movie Speed. "If we drop below warp 5, we'll explode!" quick, someone find Keanu Reeves!

Now that would have been an interesting addition to this cast.
It's funny because the situation being unbelievable never bothered me too much. It was great to see Trip and Malcolm work together again and Trip finding out what happened while he was away.

I gotta agree. Hernandez was a lot more interesting captain than Archer. I wouldn't have minded seeing her captain Enterprise from day one. And she isn't a self-parody like Janeway, at least from what we've seen. Though she does seem to have questionable tastes in men, but hey.
On another note S/U if you like Erika, she plays a prominent role in the Destiny novels. They're a trilogy of novels set mainly after Nemesis, which encompass all four major series. Though Columbia and Hernandez's roles are via flashback but tie into the main story quite smoothly.
