Best Place To Which You've Ever Traveled

London.

I visited a few places in Europe, and I loved lots of them (Prague, Barcelona, Graz, Venice, Rome, Turin, etc.), but I felt an instant connection to London. I felt I could really live there, and feel completely at home.

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic - beaches and weather.

Venice - food, culture, just sheer general awesomeness.

I feel like this is grabbing at the low hanging fruit, here, but Venice.

I loved the pigeons so much, lol.

Second place would be Bolzano (also in Italy). It was by pulling some serious strings that we got to go there at all, but I'm so glad I did.

It depends on the kind of travel.
Far from my hometown, but I enjoyed my stay at the Greek island of Santorini a lot! Just pick some non-high-season period, you don't want to have to deal with all the tourists chasing the sunset... The island may not have the best beaches on average (even though one of my all time favorites is hidden there) but the views are great, the non-touristy villages are very pretty and I found it has a nice calming effect on the soul. Again, avoid the high-season!
This is also one of my favourites! You find everything you need on one tiny island: nature, historical sites, cute villages, good food, nice people, interesting shops, and beautiful sunsets.

Two other islands I particularly like are Madeira and Malta; Madeira for it's impressive and varied nature, Malta for it's impressive and varied historical sites.

Venice is awesome indeed, but it's a bitch to live there. I have a few friends who live and work in the city, and even the simplest tasks are mind-mindbogglingly difficult. For example, no cars, no motorbikes, no bicycles: which means you can't buy more groceries than you can transport in your own hands, up and down a few bridges with steep steps, crossing over bad-smelling canals (which double also as the city sewage system). Ah, and all your groceries are crazy expensive, since all goods must be transported into the city by motorboats. And the list is long!

Bolzano/Bozen is very nice, too! You really get the feeling of being on the frontier between Mediterranean and Continental Europe.

For all its faults, I'd put Venice high on a top ten list of places to see before you die. There's nowhere like it. Bruges doesn't even come close :p

Ooh, the same ones they offer those romantic gondola rides on? :D

I loved it. It felt pretty different from what I had been seeing in Italy up until that point. We went there for the Museum of Archaeology, with hours and hours of train rides through the countryside to get there. Best part of the trip!

one of my favourite places in Italy is the island of Ischia. Make sure to to go there off-season as in Summer the island is run over by tourists. But from November on it's wonderful. You can climb Mt Epomeo (a volcano) or go for a walk in the chestnut-forrests, have a stroll through vinyards and lemon and tangerine plantations, have a picknick on the beach, take a dip in one of the thermal springs, hike up to the lighthouse or go on a shopping expedition in the larger towns. There are two bus lines clockwise and counterclockwise around the island which will take you to all the interesting places, parks, castles, gardens, historical monuments, aqueducts, monastries etc.
Quite a few of the attractions are closed from November to Easter, but there is still a lot left to see and do. And make sure to visit the Giardini Ravino, a privately owned botanical garden specializing in cactei - they have the best Torta Caprese (chocolate-almond cake) in all of Italy!

I think that different places can be great, depending on what you are looking for. I love Norwich, Norfolk in England. It's my grandmother's home town. I like sitting in my great aunt and uncle's home, or in their backyard, enjoying their English garden. I enjoy staying in this small B&B run by a really nice couple, and they have cats and a coy pond. It's not a big, fancy hotel but I think it suits the locale. I like walking around downtown, checking out the 900-year-old cathedral, the castle and the shops. The people here are incredibly nice. I'd say it's a little more authentic "English" than staying in London (though I enjoy London, too).

One of my favorite vacations was to Providenciales, Turks and Caicos. I took this trip by myself with the sole intention of escaping from reality for a few days. It was exactly what I wanted. Staying at a 5-star resort didn't hurt, either. I've never seen beaches so nice, or water that bright and clear. I would just walk along the beach for an hour here, an hour there. I also went scuba diving for the first time and got to see beautiful sea life.

Norwich is a place I'd like to go one day. Any pub you'd recommend for a single lady in her middle ages? (meaning: something old-fashioned, with not too loud music and with customers that don't use cheap pickup lines) :)

I love so many places.. London is a favorite because of the shopping. Paris another one for all the memories and the glorious buildings and streets.. New York for all the friendly people and again.. the shopping (its important to me okay?) .
Next year I am also going back to my favorite shopping mecka in the whole world. Your backyard Bonzie again.. for a cruise and some good times in Florida. Hoping that will take over as my number one again :)

I also love Amsterdam, for the family ;) Holland really feels like home to me.

I see what you did there.

I visited Moscow and Leningrad, as it was then, on a school trip in 1987. Looking back, the timing was interesting, as the USSR was more open to tourists by then but was still a communist country. We went in March, which baffled the hell out of our fellow Canadian students, as we were going to the only country that was colder than where we lived.

My absolute favourite place is the Penwith region in the far southwest of England in the Duchy of Cornwall. My husband first took me there before we were married and I'd moved to England. The scenery in Penwith is incredible, and the sea is so blue. We don't normally go to Penzance (yes, as in Pirates of), but stick to the smaller villages and rural areas with its ancient stone circles and standing stones. I'm not much of a spiritual person, but there's something about the place that gets into your soul.

Let me know when the time gets close. If I'm still living here (we're looking to get out of here), I'd love to come over and meet up. Sawgrass is fifteen-twenty minutes from my house (and I know it well :D).

Santorini has some wonderful memories for me...a sunset dinner on the edge of the caldera in Thera was fantastic.

In the US, Yosemite has some amazing spots. Hike to the top of Nevada Falls and hang your feet over the edge into a 500 feet of space.

Well, I've only been to places inside the US, but I love San Diego. If I would live anywhere in Southern California, it would be San Diego.

I loved Yosemite although the un-guardrailed switchbacks on the way up scared the $*#@ out of me. I told my dad, "There had better be a different highway out of here."

Thank God there was!

But it was a beautiful place.

In thinking about this question, it never occured to me to pick something like Yosemite, but it is an awesome place. I remember I would go up there with the Scouts every MLK Jr. day and it was just really really fun every year. Also did the hike up to upper Yosemite falls, but never did the Half Dome walk.

Another place I love is a family camp I go to every year next to Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks. It's a private lake, and just the environment is great, especially watching the sun come up over the trees. Another place, which I regret not going to as much as I should, is way northern California, such as Shasta, Eureka, Clear Lake, that area. I drove by there on 101 once and hopefully one day I can go back.

Yep. Due to the peculiar geography of the city, Venice has no sewage system. It goes directly into the canals, but the tides sweep the Venetian lagoon twice a day, so it's not so icky as it sounds. ;)

one of my favourite places in Italy is the island of Ischia.
Personally I've never been in the Campania region, but most people who went there agree that Ischia (with Capri and Procida) are really jewels in the Gulf of Naples.

I think my favorite place I've ever been to is Mount Fuji, where me and my wife went hiking on honeymoon. A local guide admitted that he thinks it's become a bit of a tourist trap recently, but we found it rather deserted, and incredibly peaceful. Climbing Fuji isn't for the faint-hearted though, and I have to say at one point I embarrassed myself by keeling over and not pacing myself (have done the same when visiting Mauna Kea before) for the lack of oxygen due to higher climes.

Also, my wife looks beautiful in a kimono.
