For the love of all that is holy, they'd better! Star Wars isn't Star Wars without John Williams.

SO much is here, I have no idea if this was shared yet - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=QIkqX5fG_tA#!

Its a video of Lucas and Disney CEO Rober Iger. Lucas says him and Kathleen Kennedy has been discussing story ideas for Episodes 7-9 already. This really won't be Disney's Star Wars anymore in style than Marvel's characters are. Lucasfilm will still be in control. Its just a part of Disney the company, same with Pixar.

  5. Interesting. Harry Knowles of AICN has been insisting for a couple years now that people at LucasFilm flat out told him there have been sequel trilogy plans for a while, but standard operation procedure was to deny publicly their existence until it was time to roll with them.

Exactly, its no big deal in that respect. There's plenty of sequels to his films using his themes.

He's referring to this thread, which was posted two hours before yours:

Disney buys Lucasfilm for $4 billion in cash and stock.

IF then. Disney has a bad habit of not following through on DVD releases as it is. Anyone who has followed the struggles of fans of 90s Disney shows (Gargoyles, etc) to get the last parts of the series released knows this all too well.

Star Wars just became JAFDF (Just Another Frakking Disney Franchise), there to be milked by the Mouse for income streams.

Fans of the tie-in material should be doubly worried because Disney is notorious for not caring about tie-ins. Anybody remember when Marvel was a COMIC company that cared about it's core product? There are persistent rumors, for example, that Marvel's comics division is a hair's-bredth away from being shut down, now that the Mouse is in charge.

    Hooray! I think.

Maybe Disney can squeeze out the star wars tv series.

It'd be great if we still got the live action "Underworld" TV series to fill in some of the 20-year gap between Episodes III and IV and at the same time saw the distant future post-JEDI in Episode VII. Lucas and his people could touch on two different periods in galactic history at the same moment and flesh out the two eras SW fans want to know the most about.

Dude, there were rumored plans for the final trilogy going back all the way to the birth of Star Wars. Those of us old enough to remember that far back know this. The most prevelant rumor was that the core of the first big EU trilogy (the so-called "Thrawn Trilogy") lifted big-time from the story ideas for 7-9.

    Erhm,
Mary Poppins, A Bugs Life, Toy Story, Aladdin, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Pirates of the Carribean, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Avengers not good enough for you?
Of course, those films are all generally kids movies.
Kind of like STAR WARS. :rommie:

    Wow!

I view this as (potentially) fantastic news. It's not like the franchise could get more childish and kiddie-kiddie. The prequel trilogy meandered back and forth from mediocre to awful.

If the original trilogy is re-released (not the Special Editions) then that will be worth it all by itself.

    Release the Originals!!!/nerdvoice

This is huge news. I was amazed when I saw it on Facebook earlier today. Bring on 2015.
