Star Wars Episode 7 - 2015

Disney just added another Princess to their catalogue.
This actually made me smile! :D
It does seem to me as if people are equating this acquisition with a total shift in what the SW property is, which is just ridiculous. Pixar films didn't suddenly change when Disney officially purchased that company, so why would that happen with Lucasfilm and SW?
This is basically how I feel. Besides, Disney and Lucasfilm have already had a long relationship together before now, especially evident if you've ever been to Disney's Hollywood Studios in Disney World. Besides, if he has to hand over the torch to someone, I think Disney is the right choice.

Makes me wonder if they're going to do anything about the revisions to the OT, though. Hmmmm...

Lucas says he is passing over to them the story treatments for 7,8 and 9...
wow great find! uploaded by starwars on Oct.30, 2012.

start at 1:35
Lucas:
"I have story treatments of 7, 8, and 9 and a bunch of other movies...I sort of moved that treasure trove...to Kathy."

Kathy:
"(we are)...sitting down with a couple of writers and starting to discuss ideas of what those stories might be."

Since Lucas says in this video that he won't be doing anymore I think he will really have a backseat and approval of script and then it will really be out of his hands as an Executive Producer. Someone else will run the show during preproduction, production, and post production.

Does this mean that Disney will hire John Williams to compose the score of the next film? That would be most interesting.

What are the legalities if they do not hire John Williams but use some of his score & themes in writing the new score for the 2015 film?

So Lucas has given story treatments for 'a bunch of other movies' to Disney that he has had the ideas to do for decades too. I wonder what some of those are. Maybe other franchises?

The SW tv show.

Probably more ideas for IJ movies.

Guess the process for the SW movies will be like how he makes the TCW show with a protege doing all the work and Lucas doling out advice.

Either way, I guess now is a good time to be a SW fan.

We'll finally get to see the final trilogy.

erm, i know this is a Star Wars thread but just to freak out another fanbase, does this sale not also mean that Disney has its grubby little mitts on Indiana Jones as well?!!

Re: Disney to Acquire Lucasfilm

Looked for it and didn't see a post talking about it. The title of the other thread doesn't hint at a Disney connection. And seeing as the announcement was only made at 4:30 EDT this afternoon, so I hardly see how this post qualifies as "late" to anything.

Yes since they own Lucasfilms.

In some good news, they also own Howard the Duck. Yeah Howard is finally back with Marvel. Could there be a Defenders movie in the planning. :techman:

Re: Disney to Acquire Lucasfilm

At least this site is still up. The traffic related to the announcement crashed TFN.

All the negativity aside. Pixar is still OK (Yes I liked Brave, shut up). Marvel is still awesome. Tron 2 and John Carter were good films even with their problems.

Episode 7 with Andrew Stanton or Josh Whedon as director !! Even a geek can wish upon a star.

Oh, crap. I hope this doesn't mean stupid Disney logos on Star Wars action figures and collectibles.

[Vader] NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! [/Vader]
