    Do a Charlie.

The Doctor thinks she's dead, heads off feeling sad, but she's alive and determined to wait for him to come back and rescue her... But he doesn't.

Well that's not exactly what happened to Charlie...

Looks like the Angels will get them and they'll die of old age in the same kind of closed-loop scenario as that guy in Blink, with the Doctor unable to intervene and therefore unable to bring himself to see them again. Best of all worlds, in a sense. Also, if they get zapped back into the past to die on the day they leave, then most likely the tables will be turned and Amy will wait for Rory, as she could be expected to live a few years longer than him and so should turn up earlier. Almost a Hachikō situation. Of course, it would be funny if they ended up only a short time in the past and got so uptight about the implied violent death that they end up getting knocked down and killed on the due date. Or not.

I like the Bessie idea too. :)

It could be that after saving them from an originally terrible fate, the Doctor decides to just stop returning to the Ponds and allows them to get on with their normal lives. The last scene, however, ends with Amy once again being the girl who waits patiently for his return...

Brian will die, the Ponds will then ask the Doctor never to visit them again.

Amy will discover she's pregnant (having been cured by the miracle doctor in "A Town Called Mercy"). She won't want to travel in the TARDIS in case this baby also develops a "Time Head". They'll go home and live happily ever after.

River will get sent back in time by the Angels, set up home with Casanova and neatly avoid all that inconvenient prison stuff. She reckons this is a better deal than living in jail and 'dying' in the library.

The Doctor will be forced to accept their choices, finally realising that companions are people with independent will rather than toys to be played with. He may actually do a bit of growing up and become more of a Time Lord and less of a ADHD kid (or at least more like he was in other regenerations).

I still like the idea of The Doctor saying goodbye for a time and pledging to return but botching the time period and coming back after they've died of old age. It would be different than any of the other conventional DW send-offs and thematically appropriate because it would make Amy still "the girl who waited."

The Dr is in peril for his life and has been tied to a missle that will head into the sun, .......only Amy and Rory can save him by reaching a master switch remote that has fallen onto a collapsing bridge, they both hold hands and jump onto the bridge, just reaching the remote and pressing the button and releasing the doctor, just as the bridge collapes with them on it sending them plummeting to their deaths.....oh and the impact of the fall is so intense that it actually liquefies there bodies, so all that's left of them would be a two small red PONDS. ..(Drumroll).

Its original and its a cliff hanger all in one and i am quite sure its never been done before. :)

It's been 5 years since that happened!

And it's just a tiny bit of the middle of her story.

But this isn't even a Big Finish thread and I would say that's probably a pretty important turning point (one I had been curious about how it all went down).

You're right ... my mistake. But I would still prefer this style of ending to most other possibilities.

I've got a feeling that he'll do that, too. Of course it won't be nearly as good. He just can't seem to let go of the "Girl Who Waited" theme.

It was the first story I listened to ever, so I had no idea what was happening.

    I'm sorry.

But I assure you that what I said is the tip of an unbelievably huge iceberg.

Is that a story about Pre-Historic Dogs or Trees?

I too, believe their departure will be related to Angel Time Travel and seeing them "too Late"
