The First Poster for INTO DARKNESS Has Just Been Revealed...

"Dammit, Captain...I cannae come up with that much extra power!!

She's warping for two!!"

Plus, reliable fan pages that usually get their facts and details correct were posting it...

And they're still "reliable"? :wtf:

Still "usually get their facts and details correct"?

Don't we always hear this right before they get their facts and details wrong?

The film ends with a log entry: "... and we star trek into darkness." and then the title is displayed. Similar to Nolan's Batman films, where the title is actually a description of the state at the END of the film, and not a description of the film as a whole.

Batman Begins at the end of the first film's story. He turns into The Dark Knight after Dent died. And The Dark Knight Rises at the end of the third film.

Well, these pages are normally reliable when it comes to not posting fan-made fakes and passing them off to everybody else as the real thing. Usually if they post fan art they describe it as such so as to not lead readers down the path of thinking its something official from Paramount and the franchise.

Suffice it to say, no site or page no matter how well intentioned or how good its track record of avoiding complete B.S. is bulletproof. They got fooled just like some of us did. It happens.

I star trek into darkness.
He/she/it star treks into darkness.
We star trek into darkness.
They star trek into darkness.

Now it's a verb. :p

A Star Beyond Time (Ilia's Theme) lyrics:

There's a star beyond time,
Floating in space,
Waiting for you and me.

Though we're planets apart,
Love is a bridge,
Joining our galaxies.

Come with me,
We'll star trek the unknown,
Where no one's ever flown,
To one star that we'll make our own.

Where the universe ends,
Our world begins,
Somewhere beyond the dawn.

Note: In the Shaun Cassidy version, he replaces "star trek" with "conquer", but on other compilations the unnamed female vocalist sings the above lyrics.

I love that track of music with all my heart.

Yes...even the Shaun Cassidy version is tolerable. "Ilia's Theme" is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever composed for a movie. Period.

Anybody else see "The Continuing Mission" at the top of that poster and immediately think, "Damn, THAT would have been a great title!" like I did?

Star Trek: The Continuing Mission

ST: TCM

Oh well....

Makes it sound like more of the same. Which I don't think the studio wants to convey...

I don't believe any "mission" has yet been stated in the Nuverse.

It is still reeling from Nero's incursion. I would expect at least a trilogy worth of readjustment to occur before anyone starts thinking about a five year mission.

Simon Pegg has become the first cast member to comment on the new movie title by tweeting (@simonpegg) that "Star Trek" is a verb, not a noun. He boldly confirms that the title is "Star Trek Into Darkness".

Except it's still a noun, unless that's interpreted as an imperative: "Star, trek into darkness!" It's just a noun that has a prepositional phrase added to it.

Or maybe "Star Trek" is the noun, both words, as in, "And you're all astronauts on some kind of star trek..."

Other way around, since the Cassidy version with "conquer" is the original. And the other version is gibberish.

Well, the female singer's version was the only one I knew for decades. It appeared on several albums. That's the version I transcribed for a bbs many years ago. I only learned of the Shaun Cassidy version a few years ago, have only heard it twice, and I wasn't sure which one came first.

I also assumed that Roddenberry wouldn't have approved "conquer" in the lyrics.

As for posters, anyone seen this one?

Is this new one confirmed as another fan-made piece of art? Something created to help promote Diamond ST products?
