I've got a question regarding deleted scenes, more specifically in Generations. I hear a lot talk about how this scene was deleted, and that scene was deleted, but what constitutes a deleted scene? The fact is, is that I very vividly remember a lot of the "deleted" scenes in Generations. For example, the torture scene with Geordi. This is a scene that I remember for a number of reasons. First of all, I was with a good buddy of mine when we saw it in Mesa, AZ in 1994. With this scene, I commented how Geordi, LeVar Burton, was Kunta Kinte(from the mini-series Roots) again when he was shackled by Soran. In my family, and being African American (though I prefer the term Black), Roots was one of those closely watched and meaningful tv shows in my family. I say this to underscore the clearness of my memory from watching the movie. Data's emotional overload is another. When my buddy saw, what is the extended version of the overload, he noted the sexual nature of one of his outbursts being Data remembering his sexual encounter with Tasha Yar. Another "deleted" scene that I clearly remember is the shower scene with Geordi. At that moment, I had said to my friend something to the effect of, so people in the 24th century do take showers like we do. I can honestly say that I don't recall the scene where Chekov was morning for Kirk when they realized that he was gone. Am I the only one that remembers some of these "deleted" scenes from Generations? With that being said, can it truly be called a deleted scene or be considered non-canon even though it was in the theatrical release, but not found on current DVD releases?

First, they don't usually change films when going to home video, so it's unlikely they removed scenes from the theatrical cut before it went to video. Second, I saw the same film in theaters and I don't recall the scenes you are discussing. It's more likely you're misremembering or that you somehow saw a preview screening of the film before its finished form. Have you tried looking at the screenplays for the film to see if any of what you're remembering was in it?

The Geordi torture scene is still there, it was only the part with the heart probe that ended up as a deleted scene. Do you remember seeing that too?

It's a visual memory made fuzzy down the years, I'd say. A combination of photos were released to publicise the film, which don't actually appear in it. You'll have read the novelisation, seen the comic book adaptation or other officially licenced magazine of some sort. Planned months before the film hit cinemas, based on an earlier script or artist/writer/editor having access to the workprint.

I had a vivid memory of the original way Kirk had died, even before the SE DVD came out. Just through an author's words and a handful of photos they did before the reshoot.

I'd love to see an alternate cut of Generations, based on every part of the script they shot... but I'm definitely alone in this regard. Particularly since his death is actually less heroic and deserving of criticism. More of a brutal act by Soran, while the Captain momentarily lets his guard to operate a remote control decloaking the missile. Kirk gets shot in the back, while saying "24th Century ain't so tough".

I was kind of disappointed they didn't keep that idea to TWOK-nize the TNG uniforms. Instead of just splitting the crew between their usual and DS9 TV designed ones. If they had been like that show's dress uniforms but without having to be like long coats. Thought those were neat. The change in plan came too late to alter the Playmates figures released for Generations.

None of those scenes were ever in any theatrical cut of Generations. Geordi shower scene? Are you serious?
Data referencing his sexual encounter with Tasha during his overload?

If you think you saw those scenes in a cut of the movie --quit taking drugs.

Honestly, it justs sounds like you are making stuff up.

They show a shorter version of the Georgdi torture scene in the movie, but never aired the full-length version in the theater.

I'd rather be a jerk than a nut or a liar.

The opening post is the same as me saying aliens abducted me last night--you can't 'prove' I'm lying, but chances ARE I'm a nut or liar.

To say the scenes he speaks of in the opening post were in a theatrical cut of Generations and using 'his friend' as 'proof' are just beyond lame.

Lursa mentions Geordi 'taking a bath' and now that turns into a cut where he 'remembers' Geordi taking a shower and 'commenting' on it to his friend during the movie--that's just bizarre.
His friend commenting on Data's sexual outburst during the scene where Data's chip goes haywire? That not just false it's kind of sick.

We have all misremembered a line or a brief scene that we may have read or heard of from a novel or whatever, but declaring with certainty and metioning all the particulars of an event that clearly never happened seem very strange.

He either has serious problems or is just looking for attention.

And forgive me if I'm wrong but didn't the same poster ALSO claim to have seen theatrically another version of another Trek movie with scenes that were NOT in the theatrical cut. Really?

So, Paramount is showing alternate versions of the Trek movies where ever this guy goes--just for him?

Yeah, i'm being a jerk. Glad I'm a jerk and not crazy.

And why do people pander and try to come up with reasons why this person might have thought he saw this stuff. He DIDN'T and it's not just simple misremembering.

I'll correct myself--he earlier started a thread where he claimed to 'have seen a 'bootlegged' copy of Nemesis' that included all the deleted scenes including parts that were not in the extensive deleted scenes section on the Blu-ray. The scenes were cut into the movie and not separate. So he somehow got hold of a 'bootlegged' rough cut of Nemesis that none of us have ever seen or heard of.

I'm very certain that if such a thing existed it wouldn't be widely available on the black market at cons and such. That would never happen. Only a single copy floating around for him to see.

I believe he said that the FX for the deleted scenes were in finished form.

Really, they spent tons of money to finalize FX for scenes that didn't make the general cut, that us mere mortals didn't see?

I can't wait to hear what other versions of the Trek movies he has seen that no one else has.

And I'll re-correct myself---he DOES claim that the alternate version of Nemesis was in the theaters! The copy he saw was filmed in the theater and he could see a guy in the audiences' afro with a pick sticking out of it!

So a version of Nemesis that included EVERY deleted scene from the Blu-ray and even MORE WAS shown theatrically and he recently saw it. So he can't be mis-remembering that can he.

Yep, the 2 hour 40 minute version of Nemesis WAS shown theatrically and he recently saw it in bootleg form and I/we can't 'prove' he's a fibber.

I guess I have sown the wind.......

I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt. Who knows? Maybe he worked for Paramount at the time the films?

But it is awfully similar to the Nemesis thread he started a while back.

As if not being a nut or a liar are exclusive qualities of being a jerk. Some of us manage to avoid all three. Okay so he's wrong. Does that make it necessary to personally insult him?

Generations had one scene removed between my viewing it in the cinema and on VHS:

When the shockwave hits the crashed Enterprise and destroys it, there's a quick shot of the people on the bridge being vapourised by it before you see the entire planet explode.

I saw it twice in the theater and don't remember such a scene. But it's been nearly twenty years.

Well, I clearly admit I was being a jerk. I felt that was a given, in that, I was pointedly attacking his veracity. Most of the time I do try to avoid being any of those 3 things. But I'm a huge deleted scenes/aternate version/lost sequences buff and now for the second time a thread that for all intents looks like a hoax and i got real annoyed.

A while back another poster claimed to have seen the rough cut of TWOK and at first I was very skeptical, but I didn't jump to the conclusion that he was a confabulator. I followed the thread and asked questions and i was super surprised that he was 100% honest and informed. With every post the other poster gave more and more facts that only could be coming from someone who had seen it and was telling the truth.

This person, who may be a great guy and a decent person, is saying things in these two threads that are so wrong/uninformed/silly that it really reaches the level of assuming other people are also uninformed or just plain stupid or naive. I hate being treated that way in person or in a forum of supposedly like-minded people.

I've posted dumb things, wrong things, unfunny, unwitty and boring things, but I don't make sh*t up and treat other people like dupes. Maybe he DID take some 'great' or 'bad' dope (depending on your point of view) and thougtht he saw those scenes and his interactions following them.

I've had a number of really cool Star Trek dreams that seemed 100% real while I was having them, but when I woke up I realized it was just in a nerd's paradise. I didn't post them!

And at the risk of getting kicked in the nuts from every angle I don't believe the Joker either.

They created a shot of the bridge interior where they spend FX money showing the crew vaporized and then just cut it, for what reason? Make one up--that's what we'll have to do in order to believe him. And does a SINGLE person who saw Generations remember seeing that. Anybody? The difference is that I'm not gonna say I 100% KNOW it wasn't there--just that it's very unlikely. I don't pretend to remember every shot from movies decades ago.

Oh well, I do remember that in Charlie X, Rand had a nipple slip, but hey I was 13 years old so I might just have dreamed it!

Have to agree with a lot of what Grant has said, having been a member of this forum for over a decade I've seen many a person claim to have seen extended, deleted or alternate scenes when they saw Star Trek: Insert Film Here in the cinema some 10 to 30 years ago that no one else remembers. I was sceptical of the recent Nemesis thread and remain unconvinced here.

Well, I was about to post a thread talking about the now-deleted scene I saw in the original theatrical run of TUC, the love scene between Sulu and Christian Slater, but I'm now afraid y'all won't believe me.

And I gotta say I don't like attacking people, I don't get off on it and it upsets my stomach.

I WANT to know of folks who have seen deleted scenes and alternate cuts. I love to hear about scenes I have never and may never see. I just want it to make sense and have the ring of truth. I have been obsessed since 1982 with deleted scenes ever since reading the Making of TWOK book that listed the cut scenes. I want us all to get the chance to see that stuff before we die, which I'm afraid we won't unless the next Blu-ray release includes them.

So, if you have seen any of that stuff post it or if you haven't make that fantasy story really well researched and plausible.

You know what's kind of wierd is that the novelization of TWOK contains a scene (never shot) of David giving mouth-to-mouth to Sulu after a phaser explosion--no lie!

Did those two gentlemen object to the scene?
