Yeah, that was reported during filming - the teashop bit, anyway. Barnaby Edwards (usually a Dalek operator) was the monk. Of course you'd think if the Headless Monks know the Doctor's alive that the Silence would know - unless he was just a telepathic illusion

    Yeah, I'm going with illusion.

Were the Headless Monks part of the Silence or just hired by them?

Or he was visiting it in some time period where it still existed, time travel and all means he can visit it before it was destroyed, or whatever, lots of explanations.

What do you all think about the Daleks now having the ability to "assimilate" humans and have human form Daleks with eye stalks and laser beams. Reminds me of Borg assimilation, maybe a bit too similar?

Do you think this is giving the Daleks too much power or advancement or that it removes the need for the pepper shaker Daleks? I hope this doesn't happen, pepper shaker Daleks are iconic, I don't want to see them replaced.

The new slaves are a step up from the Robomen in Dalek Invasion Of Earth, the clone Dalek troopers from Resurrection Of The Daleks and the pig men fomr the Daleks In Manhatten two parter.

And I think the Nation Estate will make sure that the Daleks still maintain soome of their old pepperpot design.

Most of the Amy/Rory stuff was obviously snuck in by a fangirl who wanted to write a reconciliation fanfic. Other than that, it was entertaining.

    It's also similar to Cybermen.

I think it worked well in this episode and I predict it will never be used again.

Good use of the nanogenes, though. I didn't expect to see them back.

I call it average. I've never considered Moffat to be a strong writer and this story didn't really change that view.

First the good parts. Jenna is awesome as a actress and I look forward to her replacing Amy, who I'll admit I've never really liked. The twists of the humans becoming Daleks were well handled and poor Oswin's fate was probably on the cards but I didn't spot it right until the end. Her little glance to camera and the word 'remember' was cool; I certainly will!

Skaro is still around? I guess the whole cracks in time storyline erased and restored several timelines. It's been discussed so I won't go back over it.

The fallout over Amy and Rory's marriage was pretty quick. The two never seem to age, and yet clearly some time has gone by. Does make for a new dynamic for the characters. WHY the Daleks would want to capture them is beyond me; surely the Doctor is enough to carry out the task?

The Dalek Parliament: Not a bad plot point, although the new Dalek Prime Minister (I'm assuming that's who it was in the fish tank) was hardly as impressive as his previous appearance. The Supreme seems to still run the show, and the 'council' is again made up of the multi-coloured Daleks, although in saying that I only saw the White and Blue Daleks. Must watch again to see.

The Asylum: Not a bad little place. Despite the fact there were supposed to be MILLIONS of Daleks down there we only ever saw a couple of dozen. Don't really understand, as the Doctor said, why keep a malfunctioning Dalek around when it's clearly useless. 'Sense of beauty'? Please Moffat, try a little better than that. The story surrounded the force field was equally as hokey. Why not teleport a nuke through? Many of the Daleks mentioned wouldn't have survived their encounter anyway; any on Kemble would've been turned to dust at the end of the story.

    Oswin: Awesome. Nuff said.

The Daleks: I saw bugger-all old school Daleks. Mostly dirty RTD era ones. Will have to keep an eye out on a re-watch. Was hoping to see an old Dalek Emperor from Evil of the Daleks but too much to hope for. Why was Oswin kept in a special room for herself? A full conversion only to lock her away? Is there more to this than meets the eye stalk?

The Ending: "Doctor Who?" I always cringe whenever they use that overdone line to death, and now the Daleks (and the Doctor) was chanting it! The New Dalek Empire now no longer recognises the Doctor. Bit of a silly plot device but will wait and see how it plays out. It's been a staple of the Daleks since The Chase that the Doctor is a (im)mortal enemy, and I think it should stay like that. But we'll see.

Not interested in the rest of the five. Will probably pop back at Christmas to see how Clara goes.

Karen needs to go. Models shouldn't get to be actresses until they can learn to "act" instead of simply "pose". What did we get? A lot of Karen folding her arms over her chest and looking sly.

Why didn't Oswin let the Doctor run to the teleporter and then drop the force field? Why does being fearful help from becoming a Dalek when all the Daleks were chicken?

I've just been hit with a hammer. JLC's look at the camera was way too much.

That said, the feel of this episode was great. Reminded me of RTD at his best.

I just loved the whole thing, but the main thing I'll take away from this is that they pulled the wool over the eyes of fandom with the JLC appearance. The main problem now is that although I love Amy and Rory, I love Oswin way more.

I agree with JRoss to a point. I got a bit tired of her just crossing her arms and pouting and the Doctor and Rory promptly turn into "Her boys". That's not how the show is supposed to work. I found last nights scenes, and "The Girl Who Waited" a refreshing change that redeemed her character somewhat.

And no, I didn't see Oswin's twist ending til almost the last minute. but then I usually don't try to guess the surprise ending of a story unless its just painfully obvious to the point of story failure. If anything, I was wonderign what was up with the character. Is the next companion going to be some sort of dimensional or time traveller? Will she just fade away at the end of the story?

Is Moffat a fan of Microsoft I wonder...?

Oh and slightly off topic but is Clara a Back to the Future reference? Both in name and predicament?

    one assumes

the Doctors wants her to be ok, and is interested in the mystery even if deep down he knows something isnt right. He is really hoping too much.

Amy and Rory, well they are distracted and quite possibly believe her, and without the Doctor out right saying its not possible, they (certainly Rory) is going along with it.
