Accept or Reject Enterprise

Didn't Tuvok say something like: "Vulcans... do not surf". Or was it sail? ;) I would imagine coming from a hot arid planet, water might be a thing of awe.

yeah he did.. I'm pretty sure Paris was wearing a hawaiian shirt at the time

Looking for it and can't find it. I did find..

"Vulcans do not dance."

"Vulcans do not worry."

"Vulcans do not make small talk."

All Tuvok quotes. Very jolly.

HopefulRomantic you always have very beautiful avatars. This one is just WONDERFUL. From my favorite episode :adore:
Thank you kindly :) I love playing with pretty pictures. And "E2" is in my top 5 episodes, I just adore it.

btw, I accept Enterprise as canon because it's, y'know, canon. ;) I think it fits quite nicely with the other series. Continuity fluffs, eh, they all have 'em, I just roll with 'em. Most of them appear to be the result of a desire to tell a good story, and I'm down with that. The "James R. Kirk" stuff, pffft, so what.

Though I reject the space nazis vehemently, I must confess. Those episodes were so full of stupid my IQ went down 20 points whilst watching them.

I also liked the Space Nazi episodes. I just wish that, since it was an alternate WWII anyway, Archer had gotten into a fistfight with Hitler himself.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the two best* Trek shows didn't have any Space Nazis. :p

*My opinion, obviously. Normally I wouldn't have specified but, well, this is the internet...

Thank God you specified. You could hear the tar and feather mob gearing up even from here in California.

What was sadly lacking in all of trek were SURF -NAZIS!

He should lock him in a closet!!

:guffaw:

Wait.. wasn't that a Quantum Leap episode?

I think I would have flung myself out the window, had that happened.

The episodes were, imo, stupid, silly, and completely pointless. Why were the Nazis speaking to each other in English with fake German accents? If they were speaking German, suspension of disbelief could have made them speak accent-free (well, American) English. It was stupider than retarded.

What about that fuck-awful Mary Sue? "Let's drop a bomb on Berlin"? Seriously? Oh yes, the great defenders of democracy (gag) wishing to wipe out a city of millions, filled with innocent people. Women and children. Let's kill them, because they're teh evulz Germans. Very heroic. At least the Enterprise crew weren't such idiots.

I could go on and on and....God, how I hate them.

I nearly stopped watching ENT because of the frakking space nazis. Seriously.

The nazi Cardassian episode from VOY was just as bad. What was it with those holier-than-thou morons? It was a hologram, for crying out loud. Even if he were self-conscious - especially then - he hadn't killed anyone. It made the Voyager people look like a bunch of self-righteous tossers.

They could have made that episode more interesting by addressing the moral dilemma of comparing a hologram to its flesh-and-blood counterpart, but in the end, it was only teh good versus teh evulz. Bad Cardies! Bad Cardie hologram!

And don't get me started on Banana Torres's attitude. I was honestly hoping she'd snuff it this time.

/RANT

:p

See? This is what happens when I am confronted with space nazis. I rant. Cardassian-style. :)

Archer in a fistfight with Hitler? I'd be sorely tempted to root for Hitler in that circumstance. After he beat Archer, he might liquidate the writers for letting that on screen. :p

Ok so I am just returning from the Star Trek Convention is Las Vegas. At the 'Khan' I talked to alot of people about how they felt about each series. What I found is that a good majority of people I encountered ignore ENT's existence to the story of Trek. They accept TOS, TNG, DS9, and VOY was very poplular among alot of them. However ENT was one they either didn't have an opinion about, hated or ignored it all together. That's not to say I didn't meet any ENT fans of cosplayers, there just were not alot of them. Most were TNG, VOY and DS9 fans.

I wanted to pose this question to you my fellow board mates. How do you all feel about ENT's place in Treklore? I know everything shot in front of a camera is considered 'canon", but do many on this board ignore ENT's story?
I accept it into he trek story, not particualy a fan though. Really, the only treck series I hate is Voyeger, so many faults with that series, still don't cast it out of my trek timeline though. I even try to fit the reboot film into the cannon somewhere. God dam reboots!

I can't say I'm surprised reading AllStarEntprise's initial post. Star Trek's different to other TV shows, and rightly or wrongly, success is somehow only determined by having made 7 seasons. Fans, particularly of the modern shows or maybe became Trekkers after 1987, are the most likely to dismiss ENT like that.

I used to regularly cycle through all the series - a season at a time. Switching between shows from the first few years of each and ENT holds up very well that way. It just would have nicer to carry that through, with later seasons that carried on building... Going back to watch Season 1 of ENT up against the fifth from any of the others, and it's no longer a fair match.

Using Nazi knockoffs is the ultimate lack of creativity in casting an antagonist.

But with the world so PC happy who could you use as an antagonist? There is a sue happy bleeding heart out there for everybody it seems.
Except Nazis. Nobody likes them.

But, enough about the Cardassians. ;)

Neither TOS nor Enterprise used knock offs. In Enterprise the Nazi were actual Nazis. In TOS they were "neo-Nazis" I guess, but very true to the ideology.
