Apple appeals to ignorant people who only care about the name or looks.
Excuse me? I've played around with other tablets and the iPad simply blows them away in speed and how smooth programs actually run.

Please. The iPad isn't superior to comparable Android-devices that cost less money, give you the option to expand memory and don't require you to hand over credit-card information.
I just feel sorry for people who are sucked into paying $200 for an $80 hard drive when they want to upgrade the specs of their computer. I mean come on, they use standard internal parts, they have no excuse to charge that much for them.
I built my PC (which can run iOS, btw) for about £350 all in, and it outperforms macs that cost up to about £3000. It's pathetic. You're paying for the glowy apple on the front, an OS you can't modify, and the fact you aren't allowed to fix it yourself.
Apple appeals to ignorant people who only care about the name or looks. I know there are some people who will buy their products for an actual reason (beats me what that reason is though) My brother told me he's willing to pay twice the price for a mac laptop because it looks nice. I mean come on, that's just fucking stupid. I've never seen an apple product that can do something another brand can't at half the price.
I hear some people saying they like them because they last, if you get an ipod nano wet, even slightly then it's a gonner (from my experience). And I've got a Fujitsu laptop made in 2004 that still works absolutely perfectly.
Have no idea where that rumor came from. I believe in any nation that has its own itunes (app store, music store, ect) Apple has gift cards available and those can be purchased in person with cash, for online purchases, so that you never have to use a credit card. In fact you can at least in the US go to pretty much any type of store buy thousands of dollars of gift cards with cash and even use them to buy your computers online direct from apple and not use a check, cashier's check or credit card.
Can you buy the Ipad on contract (instead of buying it outright) somewhere (I could see that requiring a credit card, or credit check or deposit)?
Seriously do you go into threads about any commercial product to remind people that there are always options that are cheaper, and wonder why people bought one thing when they could buy another for so much less? If not, what makes you think its different with computers. That its an ok thing to bitch or insult people for buying a more expensive brand for that type of product? It really, really isn't rational behavior.
I'm told that some workplaces prefer Apple products, i.e. graphic design for example (don't know if that's true anymore) because the programs Apple provides are better but if all you do is to use an Apple laptop/Tablet/Phone to browse the net and do the occasional game and you insist it has to be Apple.. well, then you open yourself up to such comments.
And if nothing else they're always good for this.

Funny, I've got three iPads in my house and have never given Apple my credit card info...

Okay, you don't need a credit card to register an itunes account (which you need to register your iPad), you only need to spend a few extra dollars.
That is so much better.
You don't need a credit card (in the US certainly) to buy an ipad or to make purchases for it or on it. I don't have a credit card. I haven't had a credit card since 1998. Yet I have bought several Macs, severals Pods, 3 ipads, and a phone. I have made purchases on the phone, pad, and macs, and I have made purchases for software, music or video on all three devices.Funny, I've got three iPads in my house and have never given Apple my credit card info...

No different than Amazon, Steam or anything other service where you purchase products online. What was the point of your argument exactly? You don't have to give Apple your credit card information to use an iPad, just to purchase things on it.

My point is, that people who are new the the whole Apple "experience" will have to set up an itunes-account to register their iPad, in the process of which some form of payment information is required to be entered (most people will not know the gift-card trick [oh, look, even more money spent before using the Apple-product] to circumvent that).
You can set up your Android device without all that (the google-account doesn't require payment information or a gift card-trick).
"Purchases"? Of all the apps on my Android phone, I only needed to pay for one. When I did that, it was about a year after I originally got the phone, so I never had to set anything up before that point. In fact, I can't exactly remember *how* I paid for it, since that's something I only did that one time.
I did not have to have a credit card to register my iPad nor did I need one to sign up for iTunes nor did I need a gift card. And how is buying an iTunes card 'spending more money'.

How is it not?
Odd though that mswood and Google-searches agreed that you need either one.
