Greetings from Your New (Old) Mod

Mutai Sho-Rin

Geriatric Adolescent
Moderator
The Sho-Rin checking in. I've been a member of the board since its first year and moderated the Enterprise forum for around 3 years. T'Bonz brought me back to the Moderator ranks to help her with TOS and now I find myself here in TNG, my favorite Trek series. From my username and Sig, you can tell I'm also a fan of Babylon 5.

For a short bio, I'm 66, live in Orange County, CA and work as a technical trainer in large-scale electronic secuirty systems. The Lady Sho-Rin and I have been married for 35 years and have two adult daughters. I travel extensively and have enjoyed visiting many TrekBBS members around the country.

When TNG was announced, I refused to watch because I found the "Next Generation" title to be painfully deriviative. A good friend at the time convinced me to watch ONE episode. It was "The Measure of a Man". The rest is history. My order of Trek worship is TNG, ENT, DS9, TOS and Voy (no haters, please). I have a new, still-in-the-box Blu-Ray player at home and will be ordering TNG S1 from Amazon this week. I look forward to re-visiting the whole series as the Bly-Ray discs are released. I look forward to a lot of fresh dialog and debate in a new thread I'll launch tomorrow morning.

Welcome (back ?) again.

Wow, you must've been able to watch TOS in it's first run. Did you?

That might explain some reluctance towards TNG. I'm @ 44 years old now, so only saw sporadic eps of TOS in the 70's & 80's plus the movies. TNG was a great thing to come along as far as I was concerned.

I've watched all the series' since then, they've all had good & bad, but mostly good.

The TNG blu-ray will be my first foray into the series in any form on disc and I'm glad I waited.

Of course, the same was true with the Three Stooges remastered sets. Though their original DVD releases were a few shorts per disc, in no particular order.

I guess a welcome is in order then.

My memory might be wrong but wasn't Mutai from a S1 episode of B5 "TKO" I believe if memory serves.

Welcome again, Mutai.

TNG is a special series; its warmth shines through almost every episode and it appeals to so many different ages and people. I like to think that this forum reflects a little bit of that. I'm absolutely confident it will flourish during your time modding it. :techman:

Well, you've definitely got part of your name going for you!

And it's nice to see another Babylon 5 fan; I've always loved both Trek and B5 and lament the frequent tension between the two fandoms.

'Tis so. It is one of the lowest ranked episodes and also one of my favorites. The B plot od Ivanova coming to grips with the death of her father was the most gripping part for me but I did enjoy the Walker Smith A plot as well.

I'll try not to break it by either intent or neglect.

Poor Greg McKinney. Another one struck down by the Babylon 5 curse.

Only 41 :(
