http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGx0ssx1cOA&feature=fvwrel I think this music is brilliant and think it would work with the the olympics. Very lively and quirky. i wonder if the BBC will use it at somepoint in the coverage.
I honestly doubt it, as amazing as the music is, I reckon the BBC will want to make sure the Olympics is it's own thing, and won't use any really recognisable TV theme tune as I guess it'll just be thought of as a cheap advertisement. But that's just my thoughts.
The BBC's official music for the 2012 games is "First Steps," a specially commissioned track by Elbow, which you can hear part of here. That's only a minute of it, the full track is supposed to be about six minutes long. Elbow's "One Day Like This" turns up a lot in sports coverage, like in England's pitch to host the 2018 World Cup, which is actually a better music video than the song's actual video.
After hearing what the plans are for the 27 million quid waste of mon- er opening ceremony, sure lets stick the 11th Doctors theme in there, it can hardly make it any more ridiculous.
That has been clearly billed as the first section of the ceremony - I don't understand why so many people are acting like the green and pleasant bit is the entire ceremony.
As a non-Brit, I do hope that The Doctor would grace the Olympics Opening Ceremony. Just pop out of the TARDIS for a minute, utter something crazy possibly with this music playing in the background, then walks back into the TARDIS.
Again it could be hardly be worse than whats currently planned. Heck at this point they can start playing 'Yakety Sax' over all the racing events and it still wouldn't be as farcical. Because its so unfathomably stupid an idea that it overshadows anything else anyone hears about the Olympics. But then i'm biased, i don't think we should have ever applied to host the damned things. I'd rather have seen the money wasted on it spent on something actually useful - like shoring up our collapsing economy or ensuring the NHS has the funding to fulfil its purpose.
^^^I'm sure all the money watsed on it will be recouped back in sales of cream tea's, jellied eels and fish suppers. lol
I have read up on the opening ceremonies I want to enjoy watching them. DSon't know how they'll compare to Beijing.
"London's Olympic Stadium will be transformed into a rural British idyll for the Games opening ceremony on July 27, organisers said on Tuesday." I guess what the Olympics needed was to be more like Farmville.
the Doctor Who theme is being used in the Opening Ceremony. The Mirror had a leaked track list of the music being used and alongside the kinda patriotic guff you might expect like Land of Hope and Glory and Jerusalem, they're also using music from Queen, The Verve, Coldpaly, Muse, the Beatles, the Stones, Oasis, Blur and several TV themes including Eastenders, Who, the BBC News, Coronation Street and the theme from The Archers...
Hopefully God save the Queen is played alot during the medals. Not that I'm a big fan of our national anthem but i'll be good to win some events.
