That'll do it.

I miss driving a stick. Wouldn't mind having one again someday.

The last manual I had was a 400HP 2005 GTO. Had that for basically 4 summers, since it was un-driveable in the snow.

Also had a 1992 Chevy Beretta which was a manual w/a V-6. Surprisingly quick.

^ I wish I could say that. I don't particularly enjoy driving. I wish I lived in a city like NYC or Chicago or Boston, where I wouldn't need a car. But despite my city's approximately 1,000,000 studies on mass transit, we have what is technically described as "jack shit" in that area. :sigh:

That's really too bad. I'm a big fan of public transport. It would be the #1 thing bitched about in my city but it's actually very good. Affordable and incredibly extensive. I've met soooo many interesting people on public transport too, some of whom ended up being friends. Do you think you would ever move to one of those cities you list (all of which are fabulous IMHO)?

I would dearly love to move to New York, because I have a touristy obsession with it (as most people here would attest :p ) but unfortunately I can't even begin to afford such a move. And I admit I love my home and would have a hard time leaving it. But it's nice to dream!

And here's how pathetic I am: The first time I learned how to ride the NYC subway, I was so proud of myself that I literally did nothing the rest of the day but ride around to various destinations. I am that much of a transit geek.

That's exactly the sort of thing I would do. I like going to destinations I haven't been to before on our trains system though they usually are utterly boring. I also have a thing about eating on trains, I really enjoy it (I'm not sure I would feel the same about the NYC subway though I've heard it is not as grotty as when I was on it years ago). I love to buy some noodle box, get a great seat and enjoy the ride. You can spend hours riding from one end to the other here as the train system covers a huge distance. It's all the same ticket if you need to transfer to a bus or tram too.

You have my attention.

Just don't do it on the Metro in Washington, D.C. They are very compulsive about that.

How long ago was that? I've been riding the NYC subway for 10 years plus (I go there every summer) and it has been pretty good. Definitely better than, say, Philadelphia, which has a transit system that's stuck in a time warp from about 1981.

Oh it was at least 20 years ago. Not clean by any means.

That is a HORRIBLE story. There are no laws about eating on trains here, just drinking alcohol. People are frequently eating and big stations have (very crappy) food vendors on them in little huts.

Here is what they look like inside, though the slightly older ones on my line have some horizontal seating and are a bit more spacious:

And here is a photo of our biggest and oldest rail station at the center of the city. It's not my favorite one though it is magnificent. You can see a tram in this pic too.

Those Beretta's Were quick. They may not have been the most stable cars to go Fast in, kinda like the Fox body Mustangs. I know 2 separate people that flipped Beretta's at high speeds....

also, SCREW YOU! lol I still would like to have a newer GTO, and with the insane aftermarket for the LS motors, those things can be Badfast.

First car I had was a 2000 1.8L AWD Nissan Wingroad:

I ended up crashing it by being a dumbass. Loved that little car though. Next up was a 1995 Nissan Bluebird, also 1.8L but front wheel drive.

And now I still have my 1998 2L AWD twin turbo Subaru Legacy GT-B, plenty of go, which of course means it isn't too cheap to run, but you have to make some sacrifices!
