The Dorito Taco.

So, I tried the Doritos Meatloaf last night. Didn't include the BBQ sauce, because the info we had here didn't tell me how much or where it fits in.

Not bad, but the Doritos interact with the fat in the hamburger in such a way that the meat became very dry.

Any tips for the next try?

That's probably where the BBQ sauce would have helped out.

Usually with BBQ sauce I baste it on the top of the meatloaf during cooking. As for moisture, I'd assume too lean of ground beef was used.

Yeah. Also, don't bake it as long next time. Obviously, you want the meat cooked through, but not so much it's dried out.

I see that I need to reask the question because it's been somewhat ignored.

How much BBQ and where/when do I put it in? Is it part of the general mixture or is it a topping?

I usually put about half a cup in the meat mixture. On top (when I do a topping. I usually don't) I just wing it. I put on just enough to cover the surface of the meat. I put it on about 10 minutes before the meat loaf is done otherwise the sauce dries up.

Well, again, everybody's meatloaf recipe is different. I don't use BBQ sauce or mustard, only ketchup, and it goes directly into the mix. As for how much to use...

...um...

I've never been big on measuring.

yeah, I always add it as I mix . . . I go for the right feel rather than the right quantity

another thing to try is to make burgers with it instead of baking it in a loaf :D
