Does anyone else dislike Keiko O'brien?

Is there really away way to make her a stronger character, and still be a wife to the only major non-officer, and being only a civilian? If Keiko and the chief were officers, she could be more important. Still, she was a better character then Captain Picard's barber and looked blue.

All those excursions exploring the GQ and they never wanted a botonist? All the work Bashir did creating new vaccines and he could never have used a botonist?

There was plenty of interesting work for Keiko to do if her or the writers wanted to find it. I've known couples with careers that didn't work well with a relationship who managed to respect their marriage and each other far more than Keiko did.

Really!?! If ANYONE could have been gay, it was Garak who has actually been said was a gay character. How does your gaydar pick up O'Brien more than anyone else?

I always got a bromance vibe off of Bashir and O'Brien. If anybody had to come out, it should have been those two. They got along great together (and even bickered like an old married couple) :)

All I know is I was enjoying Six Feet Under til I saw the dreaded "Guest Starring Rosalind Chao," and, lo and behold, she played a total bitch. Shocker, I know

^I'm sure Miles did something to deserve it. Or if he hadn't, that he soon would. :p

Eh...Keiko became a bitch because she was jealous of Miles' boyfriend Julian. She wasn't nearly as disagreeable in the early episodes where she appeared more frequently and was living on the station. It was after she left the station and Miles hooked up with Julian that she was so harsh when she returned for visits

They were newly married at that point, though. In fact, they had been married just the previous episode. They'd naturally be settling in and getting used to being married, which includes getting to know what your spouse likes and doesn't like.

Another good reason for her not to leave so much. And think of Julian, with Keiko gone, HE kept getting cock blocked by miles.

Of course you were. You probably thought marriage meant frequent sex! Miles and Keiko knew better.

At least Rejal's bickering (Gilora, not the poster Gul Re'jal) wasn't intended to destroy, and Rejal was willing to admit when she was wrong. I never saw Keiko do the latter part.

I liked Keiko O'Brien's character. Some of you are commenting and saying that she always whines and moans at O'Brien but it's not really that, it happens when problems arise. Keiko is probably the most realistic wife Star Trek has ever portrayed. Seriously my parents are happily married for about 22 years, but every day there is always some little problem where a few heated words or complaints are exchanged.

That's marriage (and life; two people cooped up together are bound to inevitably argue), but as O'Brien says you then kiss and make up because you love your spouse. I also thought Keiko was the dominant one in the relationship (well in family matters anyway), and in nearly every marriage you always get one partner who tends to be (to a lesser or greater extent) a bit more prominent, vocal and dominant than the other.

Besides just because we haven't actually seen Keiko admit she is wrong about something (though she must have done so once in an episode) doesn't mean she's stubborn and all. I'm pretty certain that Keiko and O'Brien's marriage would not have lasted for so long if Keiko could never admit she is wrong.

They acted like a real married couple too me.
I think they had great chemistry together.
When they looked at each other, you really believed they were in love and when she did nag him, you believed it too.
    They sold me as real.
I don't care how we men play it off as king of the castle but in the home, a women is ALWAYS the boss. Keiko was all that.
Actually, I wanna know how many of those that are Kieko haters are married themselves?

I wonder if this isn't part of the 'problem'?

"OMG the woman is the dominant one?! What the hell she's a BITCH!!!"

The woman IS the dominate one.
Seriously, it doesn't matter what bills you pay or how strong you are, if you do something really wrong, your woman WILL chase you out your own house!
