I think I need a transfer...

Pretty disgusting and far-reaching idea. It's a long, dark, road to being a rapist and I wouldn't even say that I and that idea are in the same city. I would never force myself on a woman in any manner.

No one is saying you're a rapist or will even turn into one. However, in this thread and elsewhere, your attitude towards women is very questionable.

So you have to have some sort of official reason for why you want to transfer that sounds positive. If you're asked.

Oh, I've got plenty of answers on file to give out for reasons for wanting to transfer without having to resort to trashing co-workers and employers.

But I checked today and there's no openings available for the position right now so I'll just have to keep my eyes open.

As sidious618 said, no one's said that you're going to become a rapist. But every six months or so, when you start one of these "woe is me" threads, your message boils down to, "Women don't want me, so my life sucks." You sound like a 16-year-old high school student (and I would know ... I had that same kind of defeatist attitude when I was 16 and in high school) with a rather unhealthy dose of misogyny. "Not having a woman in my life is the reason things suck! If I had a woman in my life, things wouldn't suck!" It doesn't work that way.

I don't know how many times I have to say it: Stop defining yourself on what you don't have, and fix all the shit in your own backyard before you even think about a relationship with another human being. You're pretty broken right now -- and I don't mean that in any sort of insulting manner -- and until you fix the shit that's broken, if by chance you do end up in a relationship, you're only going to end up hurting yourself and your partner. Relationships fix nothing -- your preoccupation with crying about not having a girlfriend isn't unlike desperate married couples who think that having a child will fix the fundamental issues in their own relationship with one another.

You will never grow until you fix your own problems. Talking about them with a therapist is an excellent start and it's good that you're continuing to do so, but words are empty without action. Take some action, instead of just going to work, coming home, then spending the rest of your day watching your DVDs and complaining on a message board.

That's probably one of the "least" annoying things with him, the bigger ones is cutting back on the hours I can schedule which right now is barely what I need to effectively run the shop, meaning I'm spending more time out in the shop or on the floor doing work I should have employees doing and less time in the office keeping up with the book-work which I'm about three weeks behind on doing.

Guess what part of being the manager is? Getting results with what you've got to work with. Don't have enough hours to cover the floor and do office work? Guess who gets to stay and do both?

When you're a manager, you get to come in early and leave late.

Actually, corporate changed things and I'm on the clock too and not allowed OT.

I know that feeling.

Out of the job at my current location and into another one, I just need to wait for something to open up. Nothing is necessarily wrong with my current location. (Other than my boss being a complete jerk but he's upsetting virtually everyone.) But, well, it's becoming painful to work here.

Anymore my emotions have been very unstable as things are just starting to work their way out and everytime I see this one (female) co-worker I get angry. With myself, not her. Because, well, I see her as an example of everything I want but know that I cannot, and will never, have.

So I need to move to a location with less attractive female staff or at least ones I won't long for.

Changing locations will not change your inability to take the initiative. And, I'm talking about taking the initiative in general, not just for women or this particular co-worker. If you move, I guarantee the same problems will follow you around because they are inside *you*.

On that topic, my boss is an insufferable micro-managing ass. At least once a week I here complaints about lightbulbs being out in my department. One four florescent-tube fixture of the like 30 that are in my department so it's hardly noticeable and doesn't effect the lighting at all. But once a week I hear him say "Man! How can you see back there?! Why don't you replace those lightbulbs?"

And every week I tell him the fixture is broken and simply doesn't work. (I think the ballast is out in it.)

At the risk of completely exposing the strawman, why wouldn't you just get the fixture fixed? Have you bothered to submit the work order to get the ballast replaced? Or do you just live with it being out every week, complain about it without taking action, and then take cheap shit from your boss over it?

If you're getting crap over it, take the initiative and get it fixed, or at least show him you've asked to do so and been rejected. He then loses that point to bitch on, as it's either working again, or he told you he didn't want to fix it.

On an item like that, you're actually giving him a legitimate point to bitch at you about if you can't handle that 'problem'...

When you're a less-than-ordinary looking guy like me, who is not handsome, not cut, and doesn't exactly exude confidence, well, you get ignored. Unless one happens to be a really good-looking and handsome man (again, there are exceptions) then the girls aren't coming your way.

All of that is changeable. It'll take hard work but you can change all of that if you like. You know what you want and you know what it'll take to get there.

Your real problem is that you lack the initiative and drive to make the changes that you KNOW you need to make.

There is no magic solution that anyone of us can give you. But, there ARE solutions.

Because all repairs have to go through the boss and I've told him numerous times I need it fixed and he sort-of nods, or grumbles something about getting our maintenance guy to do it -who himself would have to get permission to buy the ballast, repair it, and then bill the store for his time.

I cannot just get repairs done without going through the proper channels and trying to do it through those channels has been a dead-end every time. I've done all I can do. He knows the ballast is out, he knows he needs to get the maintenance guy to buy the ballast and fix it. My part of things is done.

If I went around him and did it myself my ass would get a lot smaller from the chewing it'd get.
