Peter Weller: a captain, a comodore or a CEO?

About his character. “I can’t tell you. I’m sworn to secrecy. It's something very cool,”

if he was going to play an alien like Christopher Plummer, Christopher Lloyd. “No. do I look like an alien to you? No man,” Weller proclaimed before continuing.“Let me put it this way. I have my own ship,”

Weller then pulled out his cell phone and revealed a picture of his seven-month-old baby boy sitting in the Captain’s chair on the bridge of a starship. The little tyke was proudly dressed in a yellow captain’s shirt. You couldn’t tell if it was the bridge of the Enterprise or another ship.

Opinions?

He's playing Captain Terrell of the Reliant. Only in this universe he's a white guy. Just like Khan.

:guffaw:

Matt Decker? I'm betting if he is playing a Starfleet Captain, he'll be someone we know.

My guess is that he is the commanding officer of another Federation starship, and that Alice Eve plays one of his officers. I think he'll also be a sort of antagonist rather than someone seen as a straight up ally. He's probably the character that will represent any Starfleet doubt about the young Jim Kirk and crew.

I could see that. He wouldn't be a bad guy, but "gets in Kirk's way" in the search for a solution to the conflict, or he unwittingly abets the conflict because he won't give full trust to Kirk.

If he is a CEO (or any kind of civilian), I could also see him thwarting or making it hard on Kirk as part of trying to cover up something he did that went terribly wrong and started the problem our heroes face in the first place. Maybe he's even trying to find his own solution outside of Kirk's interference.
