I wouldn't put much much stock in what was printed on a movie ticket. They could just be hedging their bets there.

The news in the Collider link above has been updated: Fox has officially confirmed that Prometheus will be rated R for "sci-fi violence including some intense images, and brief language".

Those are more mild disclaimers than I would like, but I'm elated that we're not getting an entirely watered down product like it seemed we might.

Brief language? Unacceptable. I want constant swearing.

Actually, I dislike constant swearing. I stopped watching "The Wire" because of its never-ending cussing. But if you'd like to make more false assumptions you're more than welcome to do so.

I didn't see anyone post this (potential spoilers).

I don't know if this counts as spoilers... but just to be on the safe side...

Apparently, Guillermo del Toro's considers his AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS dead due to PROMETHEUS having "Same premise. Scenes that would be almost identical." and "Both movies seem to share identical set pieces and the exact same BIG REVELATION (twist) at the end. I won't spoil it."

Forgive me if this is old news, but I hadn't heard that Prometheus would be so closely based on ATMOM.

I'd rather read at the Mountain of Darkness and get the big reveal over with now instead of watching all that Stargate gaping. Where's the best place to read it? Is it the same Cruise flick where he discovers a girl alive amid ruins by the corrupt government and he tries to protect her or whatnot?

    Er...What?

'At the Mountains of Madness' is a classic piece of horror literature written by H.P Lovecraft.

Like a lot of Lovecrafts fiction, it is now public domain and can be read here:

It's not a make or break thing for me, but I was really looking forward to Charlize Theron's naked pushups. Oh well.

I know! The naked push-ups were one of the very first spoilers I learned about this movie! I'm going to be so sad when they're not there.

I guess they could still be there, they just won't be as interesting.

A bit more connection to ALIEN

Ridley Scott: The planet where they go is called Zeta II Reticuli.

    From ALIEN.

Lambert: I found it. Just short of Zeta II Reticuli. We haven't reached the Outer Rim yet.
    Kane: That's hard to believe.
Lambert: What the hell are we doing out here?
Kane: Don't know. What the hell are you talking about?
    Ripley: That's not our system.
    Lambert: I know that.

Sounds like the derelict didn't make it far before it crashed.

Yeah, maybe we only see her bare back or something, hence the lack of a warning.

    Sigh.

Is this fear of R ratings a recent thing? I don't remember Hollywood people having such a problem with R ratings before the last 5 years or so. Does it really hurt a movie's box office that badly if it's R?

So hot that i'm surprised that the movie screen doesn't ignite. The movie looks awesome!
