Cameron made a off hand joke about it on the red carpet for Titantic which was taken out of context. Still he and Scott apparently talked about Prometheus, specifically toward VFX and 3D film. It was in reference to those discussions that Cameron made the joke about Fox needing to wait a while, i.e. after he was finished with the Avatar sequels, if they wanted him to direct it.

The studio that handled the 3D conversion for Titanic did some work on Prometheus (some shots, only a couple, apparently turned out poorly enough that they needed some conversion work done), which I'd imagine was the source of their conversation.

    Ha ha, yeah, apparently so.

And as a David myself I can't help but find it amusing that my name is apparently a good fit for creepy, expressionless androids who look like they could snap and strangle you at any moment. First the little kid in A.I. and now this.

Really liking the look of this film...glad to see Ridley isn't a slave to his past.

I really like the sleeker style and design, but I still hope he keeps the same slow-build, documentary-style approach with the directing that we saw in the first Alien.

That's always been my favorite aspect of that movie, and I'd hate to lose it.

I think it's best if sci-fi movies avoid specifying the year in which they take place. Or if they do give the year, just give the last two digits of the year, leaving the exact century to our imaginations, like Cameron did in Aliens or George Lucas did in THX-1138. THX-1138 leaves it to our imaginations whether it takes place in 1987, 2087, 2187, or some other century even further in the future. It helps to avoid the film feeling awkwardly dated later on, like 1984 or 2001: A Space Odyssey or all of those references to Khan being from 1996 in Star Trek.

    Oh, this looks so great.

And I laughed a bit, when they had the exchange:
    - "Not a map. An invitation."
    - "From whom?"
And the next thing on screen is the text: "From Ridley Scott". Do they really have to spoil the ending?

    As I understand it,

The crashing of the Space Jockey ship isn't the end of the movie, it's actually the beginning of the third act. I've been told that we've seen almost nothing from the actual ending of the film, which is when the body horror goes into total overdrive.
