    Ditto, seen it twice now.
I have a friend who couldn't go today(Fri) due to family obligations. However, tomorrow is Free Comic Book Day and after I hemmed and hawed told him I'd catch a 1:30 with him after we leave the sale at our LCS. Damn, twist my fricking arm.

I'm so sold on a "solo" Black Widow film. I use quotes cause Clint/Hawkeye could play a strong support role during part of the movie.

So Alexis Denisof is in this film right? Is he
playing Thanos at the end or is he all CGI. If not where is Alexis?

^Right. The guy who we see Loki talking to early on and then reporting to ****** at the end.

The Marvel Movie Wiki already has entries for Denisof's character, "The Other" and Thanos (And they really need to get better pics of both characters), who the wiki claims was played Damion Poitier. IMDB lists Poitier's character as "Man #1", but that would seem to be misdirection.

I just got back from it. Amazing movie. Along with The Dark Knight, easily the best superhero film ever made. It balanced out all the action with a lot of character development and humor. Impressive FX too and I agree the battle of New York presented here puts anything Michael Bay has done in Transformers to shame.

The film is long but it takes a lot of time to build its characters and its appreciated. Everyone gets an opportunity to shine. I think I have to call out Tom Hiddleston again. He stole the show in Thor and did a pretty damn good job here in Avengers. He's more outwardly evil in this film but still manages to convey Loki with some nuance. He's going to be a major star very soon.

Downey rebounds nicely from the disappointing Iron Man II and is in great form. Evans and Hemsworth continue to do great work with their characters. I hated the first Hulk movie and wasn't crazy about the second one but Mark Ruffalo makes me want to see one with him as the star. His Banner is absolutely terrific and I loved his scenes with Tony. ScarJo more than holds her own with the boys and they kept Natasha Russian! Double bonus there.

Hulk smashing Loki definitely got the biggest response and people loved him punching Thor at the end too. Thor's "He's adopted" line drew a lot of laughs as well.

I appreciated at the extra details from the other films. Nice to see Paltrow back...as far as superhero love interests go, she always brought a lot to the table. Liked the Jane Foster reference too.

Avengers is the impressive culmination of many, many years of hard work by Marvel Studios. Well done!

Interesting that you should mention Transformers. The battle at the end, including the big creature reminded me of Dark of the Moon.

Forgot to add but I loved how they really showed how much of a vicious beast the Hulk is. Even after two movies, this was the first time you truly grasped how dangerous it is to make him angry. You do NOT want to do that.

^ Did they shrink him down a bit? I seem to remember him being larger.

I think so. I remember they made Hulk about 10 feet tall in the first film, smaller in the next one. The CGI was greatly improved this time around.

I was too wrapped up in the film to pay attention, but did we end up with any Whedon-isms (for lack of a better word) in the film?

I remember Nick Fury referring to the Helicarrier as a "boat" at one point, and that reminded me of Firefly, even if it wasn't intentional. But what I really want to know is if a character ever says "I get that."

I love it! I don't think most in the audience knew who the guy in the end credit scene was.

Totally and COMPLETELY delivered on the action. I mean, holy shit. There were more incredible, badass fights in this than all the other Marvel movies combined.

But I have to say... it did get awfully slow and talky in the middle. I'm all for story development and fleshing out characters (and I usually LOVE me some Whedon dialogue), but this is one instance where I just thought it sapped way too much of the energy and momentum out of the movie. Because let's face it, there's only so much standing around and debating you want to see these characters doing in a movie like this.

Although it's always possible I'll be more prepared and able to appreciate it better on a second viewing.

I'm probably asking the wrong crowd here, but I'm curious. Has anyone who saw the movie here missed out on any of the other Marvel movies that play into this?

I'm just interested how the movie plays to people who aren't familiar with these characters through their solo films or from the comics.

Also, I find it interesting how ten or so years ago studios were taking comic books and adapting them as fairly realistic. Or at least downplaying the more fantastical elements. X-Men is a good example of this, even Fantastic Four took away the things that made that series fun. So it's nice to finally see some comic book movies embracing the outrageous elements...and you know what? Doing them extremely well at the same time.

And another thing, I was discussing with my friends after the movie about how I would have liked having a Jane Foster cameo, as I felt the explanation for her absence was a tad silly. But they pointed out that a Jane cameo would probably feel incredibly forced. Despite the fact that Pepper didn't feel forced into the story at all.

I saw the movie with a group of 5 or 6 guys. I don't think any of them had seen The Incredible Hulk, and 1 or 2 of them hadn't seen any of the Marvel movies at all. They all loved it.

As for me, I really liked it too, although as a big fan of both Joss Whedon and the previous Marvel movies, I probably expected to like it even more. The few things that bothered me a bit were the slow-ish/uninvolving beginning, the somewhat bland visual style, and the forgettable score.
Still, it's definitely one of the best superhero movies I've seen and I want to see it again soon.

I think there is a 'Wash' moment in the film.
