My Star Trek 2 (2013) Artwork

Hey, at least it wasn't my model this time. :) It seems like everyone loves to blow that one up. :D

Well, I'm sure Captain Robert April will get a chuckle out of that pic of the JJPrinse, but the question still remains, what's the point here? Other than that you've got freaky mad Photoshop skills?

The end result of this design...

I'm starting work on a totally new concept (a little less gory...)

I think that poster would have been better if it were less gory...

'Khan' - Keep the same but loose TWOK outfit, Uhura - ripped uniform but return it to red and just add bruises instead of the gashes, Spock - loose the wripped off ear its going too far, same with Kirk it would have been good if toned down.

The Enterprise picture I like, was shocking when I saw it but as opposite to the character shots I dont think theres enough damage, there should be a plume of gas coming from one of the nacelles (personal opinion).

Looking forward to version 2.

Huh. I never realized the Botany Bay was armed...

I was about to say that every every blueprint and schematic I've ever looked at shows that she isn't armed, though now that I think of it, I think I might remember one set showing her as having 1 point defense laser somewhere concealed in the conning tower.
Though it would still be no match for the Enterprise's shields.

Shouldn't even be a match for Enterprise's hull.

But then we're talking about JJ, so don't be surprised if he's outfitted the old clunker with a couple of ion cannons.

The member with the Daffy Duck avatar said you had issues???? Really?????
Come on Man!!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting thread. As an artist myself I really do appreciate the talent, the time and effort that went into the work.

I did like the battle damage to the Enterprise even though it is my favorite design.

As for the more graphic pictures. They do have shock value and they are provocative and I know sometimes art can be provocative. I really am not bothered by any of it.

While I'm not at all offended by your artwork, I just don't see Khan (whoever is playing the role) as the kind of villain who carves up people and bites ears off. Those kind of qualities don't exactly make for an interesting adversary. But that's just my opinion.

It still seems pointlessly gory.

Call me wrong, but I get the impression you don't like my artwork very much... ;)

(Seriously, what's the point in repeating over and over and over (and over...) your distaste of it..? I get it already! ;))

I think it's cool. Do people know how much effort it takes to do that photoshopping? That itself is commendable.
And sure, Khan isn't that type of villain, but OP isn't the advertising guy for the movie, they jaust have an idea, and executed it beautifully. I don't think they need help.

Just because you made a few bloody pictures doesn't mean you have issues.

However, explicit blood and violence just isn't appropriate for a movie poster. There are other, subtler yet more effective imagery to convey feelings of fear, dread, suspense or intimidation.
