My Star Trek 2 (2013) Artwork

Maybe the OP was "inspired" by the tortured body discovered upon the Regula station and the account Captain Terrell told Kirk after he and Chekov were freed from the storage locker. He said something like, "He [Khan] went 'wild'...he slit their throats..."

True, the imagery is not my cup of hemlock, but the idea is not without precedence, and one should acknowledge the skill of the image manipulation.

(I shudder at what butchery might befall my beloved M'Ress!)

Sincerely,

Bill

THANK YOU..!!!

Exactly my line of thinking... I took these elements a little further, and I think this 'madman'-behavior makes him even more dangerous...

To suggest that Khan is this intelligent dictator that doesn't resort to extreme violence (which many have done in this thread), is kinda bordering the absurd, and proves that many don't know the little details of TWOK very well... So again, THANKS Redfern..!

Or when he placed Kirk in the de-compression chamber in TOS... That wouldn't have been a pleasant way to go. But agreed. Khan was brutal in TWK. I remember seeing those bodies being cut down when I was a kid and it freaking me out.

Seriously. No matter what anyone says, this is art. It's only pointless if the artist has no point. Just because people don't find it in good taste doesn't mean anything.

Do I like it? Meh- I'm not into gore. But hell, Lord of the Rinds was brutal, and the only real message in that saga was, hmm... NONE! It was just a fun romp that depicted a wee amount of gore.

And everyone even hinting at the OP being a troll should be warned for stirring up pointless trouble. This is Trek Art- not, Trek Art That If Some Don't Like We Label It As Pointless...

Ps. Redfern- what exactly is your cup of hemlock? The suicidal kind, or the, just make you ill kind?

Even I thought this one was a little over the top, but I hope you can appriciate hundreds of Photoshop layers...

To be fair, Lord of the Rings isn't exactly pointless if you consider it as an allegory for tolkien's experience during the first world war.

as for the art in this thread, I think the art itself is certainly skillful, and definitely succeeds in provoking an emotional reaction ;) however, I'm not really sure what the point is? all I see is some gruesome carnage, and then 'KHAN'. what story are you trying to tell? cause all I'm getting from it is that khan will spend the entire film beating the shit out of the main characters...

It's just coming across as torture porn.

That was my point aswell, however I feel it didn't come across. Perhaps my choice of words was wrong. In any case, I don't mind gory images by them selves. My issue is, they need to serve a purpose. I still don't feel anything from this. The blank look on their faces don't show fear, anxiety, dread. Nothing. The only purpose I'm getting is 'I like to show gory stuff'. Which I, personally, find a bit useless. Now, art can be useless, sure. But then it needs to be pretty. And although the skill with photoshop used here is high, in itself there's nothing very beautifull in this art, unless you find mutilation and gore pretty.

Again, this is just an opinion, I don't want to insult anybody personally. But if it's allowed to show art likes this, I feel people should also be allowed to voice their opinion.

I don't agree that it's 'gore for the sake of gore'... It was certainly not my intent. I will clarify more of my intentions with this soon, but in the meantime, the 'bigger picture' is getting closer:

I'll keep an eye on this then. If there is a purpose to it, an emotion you are trying to evoke, I'm certainly curious.

This was the element of the Enterprise (and about 10 hours of work...)

I'm going to echo other posters in that I don't see the connection with Khan, at least the pre-Ceti Alpha V Khan.

You know, "the best of the tyrants." The one that Kirk could "admire and be against" at the same time.

(BTW, isn't that Tobias Richter's Enterprise image your using?)

I'm of a mind to agree with other posters about the subject matter, but in terms of execution, fantastic work!

DAMNIT!!! YOU'VE GONE TO EFFING FAR WITH THIS POINTLESS IMAGE!!!

The poor Enterprise- so uselessly defaced!!! I can almost hear her scream!

:guffaw:

Seriously- my point is actually made. This is really no different then showing someone cut.

That said, I am sick of seeing ANY Enterprise get so horribly damaged. I don't even like the new Enterprise, but this still makes me sad. Again. Where the hell is the crying emoticon???
