Will 2012 be an incredibly cynical election?

Knock it off. You're not in TNZ.
Apologies. I was thinking we were in the US Election thread in TNZ. Sorry.

Well, the proper place for this thread would have been in the US 2012 election sub forum, so your mistake is an honest one.:techman:

As you've already been told, it's perfectly acceptable to post the thread here as well.

Thank you.
The discussion was between me, Nowhere Man and the Mod. So why don't you buy a bottle of Butt-Out-of-It, and go somewhere to drink it?

Because i aplaud mods encouraging civilised debate.

I appreciate that, but adding a comment to a mod post that didn't involve you is provocative and can result in exactly the reaction you got here, so please don't do it again.

Stop playing dumb, it is unbecoming of a moderator.
He's not. For someone who isn't even American, you sure take a mighty strong interest in our politics (on the wrong side, no less).
Yeah, screw these fucking Europeans who actually care about what happens beyond their own shores.

There's "being interested in what happens beyond our own shores" and there's "starting a metric fucktonne of really bizarre threads".

1 or 2 were really bizzare.
Certainly you can understand my curiosity at your desire to discuss American politics while you refuse to discuss Romanian politics?
The USA might be a declining world power but they are still are the most powerful country in the world. Furthermore many global developments appear sharper and more clearly in the US.
These are the two reasons I am aware off that make non-US citizens care about the political developments in your country.

About Romania, first of all I doubt you know much about it, I certainly don't and it's closer to where I live. Everybody knows Ron Paul, nobody knows any Romanian libertarian politicians if there are any. Be happy that the world still talks about you, in fifty years the names of Chinese politicians might be more familiar around the world than those of American politicians.

Secondly it doesn't matter what happens there unless you are a citizen or it has implications on the folks around. When the Hungarian right-wing government changed their constitution to make the country far more authoritarian people around took interest not so much because they actually care about Hungarians but because it might foreshadow similar trends in neighbouring countries.

Start a thread about it and we can discuss it.
THIS thread is about the 2012 election. Is there a 2012 election anywhere in Romania? What are the racial makeup of your politicians? As horatio noted, I don't know much about it - so, tell me. Discuss.

C'mon man, start it up. It'll be awesome.

THE TUSSLE IN TRANSYLVANIA!

Watch the people's champion Victor "Prettyboy" Ponta try to claim the title left behind by the disgraced former Prime Minister of Pain Emil "The Bear" Boc in a no-holds-barred cage match against a veritable rogue's gallery of contenders out for blood and glory!

In my opinion.
Unless by some miracle Ron Paul is the nominee this is going to be dull with low voter turnout.

Ignoring that 90% of the votes in the primaries thus far have been for someone OTHER than Ron Paul...sure. But basic math and reality hasn't ever been the strongest portions of Paul's campaign.

But sure, nominate the guy most Republicans can't stand and Democrats consider a joke.

What the hell does the Romainian election have to do with anything, the OP is clearly talking about the US. election. Why are you purposely trying to push this guy, it's rediculous.

The thread deals with 2012 elections. He's posted multiple questionable threads taking digs at the electorate, while claiming to be interested in civilized discourse. He's refusing to answer similar questions regarding his own national politics. Nothing I've said has been uncivil.

It's not uncivil, it just seems like you are provoking him. While the title may be vague, I understood from the beginning that he was talking about our election, not his. American elections effect the world; Romanian elections effect Romania and that's about it.

I wasen't aware of the past threads, but so far, I haven't seen him say anything too uncivilized.

This is where I'm confused. How would Paul make the election less cynical and drive voter turnout in the general election when he can't even get conservatives to go to the polls during the primaries?

If Paul somehow won the nomination, the only thing we'd be talking about is a historic blowout. The conservatives hate Obama and like Paul even less.

I can talk to myself alone, dont need company.

So you aren't posting here with the intent of actually discussing the topics?

Apparently not, and that's called blogging, not discussing and that's NOT what the bbs is for. So, Yevetha, why did you bother to start the thread in the first place?

Context people. Read it, learn it, understand it.

There would be a stronger contrast btween the two candidates and lets face it he is much more consistent then Obama.

I would love to see him debate marihuana legalisation or foreign policy with Obama. He has the best chance beating him and he could actually get dem voters on his side or make them stay away from Obama by edposing him as a fraud.
