Well, like a lot of people it seems, my first thought upon finding this site was "how did I never know about this before?"

I was born quite literally into Trek. When I was 18 months old, my grandmother was trying to ferry me onto a plane, but ended up having to produce a copy of my birth certificate to the airline staff to prove I was under 2 years of age, because I was speaking in fluent sentences. Of course, all I was saying was "Space, the final frontier - these are the voyages of the starship Enterprise." I couldn't get any further than that back then. A bit later, I learned to count with the films - you know, 1, V'ger, 2, Khan, 3, Spock, 4, Whales, 5, God. Wore those VHS tapes out, I did.

I'm 21 now, and Trek is a huge part of who I am. It informs my social life, my work life, my politics, my moral foundations - everything but my fashion sense, really (I've yet to ever don a uniform, although the thought's crossed my mind a number of times). I'm one of those Trek nerds who's completely on board with all the directions the franchise is currently going. I think JJ-Trek was definitely a flawed film, but it was also a brilliant film, and it was also exactly the shot in the arm that was needed to make my franchise relevant, and, dare I say - cool again.

I have the utmost respect for TOS - although its really just not my generation, and has never held my interest as stringently as the later incarnations. Next Gen will always be my favorite, both of the franchise, and of television in general. I watched most of Voyager and Enterprise as they were on, although I missed DS9 until recently, when it came up on Netflix. Having just finished it a couple of weeks ago (and absolutely loving it - what a blast!), I immediately learned that the story didn't end there. I'd never paid terribly much attention to the novels. I had quite a few that I'd bought here and there, and had read several of them, but they never quite excited me like I suppose they should have. But what Pocket's been doing these past years, as I've now found out, taking these stories forward into uncharted territories - it's brilliant, and I can't wait to dive into it.

I also play a lot of Trek-themed games. I'm an avid Star Trek Online player, although I'm taking a break from it at the moment to bask in Mass Effect 3. I also play a lot of tabletop Trek games. Haven't played Star Fleet Battles in years, but I love some of the new games that have been put out lately, like Expeditions and Fleet Captains from Wizkids, and the Star Trek Deck-Building Game from Bandai.

Anyways, I'll be around, especially as I make my way further through the novels.

As a final note, if anyone's familiar with a Mr. Domino elsewhere, on Avpgalaxy, Alien Experience, Gateworld, Star Trek Online, X-Files Forum, or elsewhere - its probably me, as I use this name a lot. If we've already met, well, hello again!

That's a cool story. Welcome on board! :)

As for the novels, though I've lost interest in them recently, there are some very good ones out there. And the DS9 Relaunch novels (which continue the story) are quite excellent.

A recently Assimilated Star Trek Fan

Greetings ! i was originally a Star Wars Fan But over the years i have slowly asslimated into the Star Trek Collective. I converted to Star Trek for two reasons

1) Star Wars while was a damn good sci fi franchise, It did not contain any info or knowledge about Earth. It had mention of earth at all in its official cannon which i find sad while other major TV/Cinema Sci Fi had Earth in them.

Star Trek - It had Earth as an important memeber of the United Federation Of Planets

Stargate - Earth was almost in every episode of SG1 and it becaome a liberator for Goa'uld enslaved Humans ,Wraith threatened Pegasus Galaxy Humans & Human enslaving Ori.

Farscape - Had John Crichton looking to get back to Earth

Babylon 5 - Earth was the Earth Ailliance and it even slowly turned into a Baddie in seasons 2,3 and 4.

Battlestar Galactica - It had humans looking for F**king Earth

As a Human, i do feel Sci fi needs Earth to be mentioned in it as Sci Fi does in it own way deal with a potiential furture or past (in case of Battlestar Galactica)

2) Star Trek has 5 live action TV Series, 1 animation TV Series and 11 movies going for it. The story telling is superb. It talked about Humanity, Conflict, Cultural Differences and other things that give it much more complexity and intellectual richness. Star Wars was good but it boiled down to just lightsabers actions, The Force (AKA magic) and an asthmatic super villian.

So this is my testimonial to my assimilation into your collective.

We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own.

Resistance is futile :borg::borg::borg:

Sorry, had to be done.

Welcome, EmoBorg (what a combination ;))! I merged your thread with the existing welcome thread.

Hello everyone I am Lena and I am new here. I've been Star Trek fan for a long time but never before being a part of Trek forum. I am basicly looking for a friends who like Star Trek as much as I do. My favorite series are Deep Space Nine and Next Generation. Unfortunetly there is not much Star Trek fans I know so I would realy enjoy a little of Trekkie talk but I have many more interests and ideas that I love to share whit everyone.

Well, you probably have come to the right place. ;) We also have sub-forums for each show so if you want to talk specifically about DS9 or TNG those would be good places to start.

Thank you. :) If you also happen to be a Brony we have a discussion thread in Sci-Fi/Fantasy for each new episode and a general talk thread in The Neutral Zone (a normally hidden largely unmoderated subforum here, mostly devoted to politics - access has to be chosen in one's User CP).

I am Eno. I cure heartburn.

Also...

I am a professional musician/producer. Somewhat successful. Enough for me not to use social sites such as Facebook and Myspace. This is something of which I am proud, and grateful. I have been lucky to work with some very fine individuals.

I am not very good at posting on the internet. In conversation I am comfortable. Posting and emailing, not so much. However, I adore writing letters.

For all my life I have loved Star Trek. In fact I discovered this website while seeking information on a Trek character of whom I was ignorant. (i specialise in Ignorant)

After reading many posts I decided to join as an avenue to Trek discussion. The forum has inspired me to watch TNG from Farpoint through 'end. DS9 will follow.

I wish to thank everyone for having me.

I am new to Trek BBS. Actually, I am fairly new to TV and movies in general (despite the fact that I am nearly 30). I never grew up watching TV or movies and my pop culture knowledge is atrocious. My husband decided that he was going to acculturate me starting with Star Trek. I have watched DS9 and I am about 6 episodes away from finishing TNG. However, since it was my first introduction to Star Trek I feel like I missed a lot of the humor in DS9 and intend to re-watch it (and probably TNG) once I finish the other series. I am watching Voyager next and plan on posting a response to each episode.

Welcome to TrekBBS, I hope your experiences here are all positive. Wow, new to TV and Movies? I am jealous. There are so many SciFi shows, I have enjoyed over the years, and having to wait until next week or next season for the next episode, and I can only re-watch them. You have so many gems, like the Star Trek Series waiting for you to watch unfold for the first time, without the wait between Seasons.

Welcome to the wonderful world of SciFi TV and Movies :bolian:

I've been around TrekBBS for a month or two, but I'm still fairly new to a lot of things here.

I grew up watching Voyager and the TNG movies, but I've also enjoyed episodes of TOS, DS9 and ENT along the way. In addition to that I've also seen all the TOS movies... Wrath of Khan and Undiscovered Country several times... Final Frontier only once.

I'm also really into the novels and own a substantial collection at the moment which will probably stick around for many years to come.

Aside from Trek, you'll find me commenting on many things Fringe related and perhaps Once Upon a Time as well.
