^Hell yes :techman:

Idle speculation as to what's going on in that scene:

Loki's got Tony hostage in the tower, and that bracelet he put on is either signaling the other Avengers or possibly about to bring one of the Iron Man armors crashing through the window.

Spoiler

Most of the Loki VS Stark banter intact

http://www.rte.ie/ten/2012/0411/avengers.html

I've watched that scene three times, and I've been trying to find a way to formulate what I don't like about it, and I think the best way to put it is: There's no tension. Seriously, there's no tension at all, considering that it's a middle-aged mortal man talking smack to a literal genius, mastermind demigod. It's shot like a pleasant chat between two acquaintances. (And, my God, I don't think the cinematography could be any more lifeless. This scene was lit just as brightly as the forest scene we've seen in the trailers, which was lit just as brightly as the scenes on the Helicarrier that we've seen.)

Hiddleston and Downey, Jr., are clearly trying their damnedest despite how woefully under-directed the whole scene is and how hokey the dialogue is (that whole scene feels like it was written just to be put into a trailer and commercials -- "you can be damn sure we'll AVENGE IT

), but, fuck.

i don't get the Agent Coulson love at all...

This guy is a mid-level functionary who regularly deals with supergeniuses in hi-tech armor, supergeniuses that turn into hulking beasts, Norse gods, hot superspies and costumed, time-traveling supersoldiers from World War Two, and he acts like he's a mid-level functionary who sells wite-out in bulk. His coolness is based on his blandness in the face of awesomeness.

Basically this.

He's got that whole "Joe Friday" thing down cold.

I love the Tony/Loki scene - particularly Stark's little eye-roll on "that's what we call ourselves" - he knows how lame it sounds.

I'm looking forward to seeing an action movie this year where the characters and dialogue are actually clever. This will be the first in quite a while.

While Whedon sometimes is very good in that regard, he is not without his weak spots too. (case in point: "Dollhouse" - also the Black Widow fight clip)

Be optimistic, but don't expect too much. Chances are you just might get a bit disappointed.

The Black Widow fight clip is awesome. Whedon at his best.

Not at all so.

"Chances are..." not. If Whedon disappoints me it'll be about the first time. My standards are quite high enough - just not mind-numbingly narrow and specific.

Chances are this movie will exceed my expectations rather than disappoint them, and they're already pretty high as it is :)

Why? Are we entering a contest or something? It's a movie. Not a lottery.

I'm loathe to post a CBM link but I think it is probably difficult to hoax or make up tweets for multiple people (although now that I think about it...probably not) anyway here are some collected reactions from those who saw the screening. Overwhelmingly positive I'd say.

What I got from the Loki/Tony clip, Tony was nervous and Downy Jr pulled that off nicely, nervous but pushing Loki to make him think about anything else and not notice what he's just done, putting those bracelets on. For me, a lot of tension there, but it's not a standoff, it's a ploy.

I called the name change.
The Chi'Tauri are the names of the Ultimate Skrulls
rumoured for quite some time that Joss and Marvel Studios may not have had the naming rights to the characters, which maybe which Fox. Any way I'm not perturbed by this at all.

Actually, Tony Stark is perhaps the one man who COULD plausibly faux banter with a demigod and make a legitimate attempt to distract him. Stark is a bonafide genius level intellect despite his foppish exterior. He's possibly the smartest single man on Earth (in Marvel movie canon.)

Anyone else trying to banter Loki like that would be much less plausible.

Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

That isn't what I meant. I meant that Thor could banter with Loki in general. I wasn't referring to that specific scene. As others have mentioned, that's classic Tony :)
