20-year-old woman druinks gasoline

Is this for real? I thought at first it was a parody, though not a particularly funny one. Drinking gasoline? Jesus, that shit’s expensive these days!

Maybe she doesn’t have to quit cold turkey. Has she tried switching to diesel?

That is uhhh, messed up. Though I had a more negative reaction to when she was eating newspaper. Ick.

For people who claim to have the philosophy that they would "try anything once".... would you do that?

Wouldn't she get cancer or go blind or have some serious medical reactions to it? I like how it's said she "drinks a few tablespoons" a day and the we see several shots of her swigging from the Jerry Can. Also you'd think the family would have had her institutionalized a long time ago instead of waiting for this show to come along.

Since it's highly toxic I don't expect she'll be around for long to worry anyone.

Indeed. As I suspected, this can’t be anything other than a hoax or a put-on. Anyone who swallows even a small amount of gasoline needs to seek medical treatment immediately.

She does say in the video that what she is doing is pressing her tongue to the opening, not swigging petrol out of it. I am sure you could ingest very small amounts of it without it causing immediate problems. I have seen someone take a bit back when syphoning off petrol without any immediately obvious effects.

I am sure disease would present itself as a problem fairly quickly though if you did it all the time.

I didn't click the link, but I'm assuming this is from the same series that focused on a woman who drinks her own urine?

Commenting on how it tastes different depending on her diet.

If so, I'm pretty sure it's all actors.:p

Yeah, still, there were also a couple scenes of her with a little shot glass full of it. It's certainly and odd thing and you'd think her parents would've been on her to stop doing it the moment she started.

There was a show I caught recently on TV about people with Pica: one woman ate chalk, another ate laundry detergent (again, in small enough doses so as not to be instantly fatal, though the doctors warned her how dangerous it was), another ate toilet paper, and the most bizarre was the one who ate the stuffing out of her sofa cushions.

She should try it mixed with a bit of vermouth — and an olive.

A couple of spoons of petroleum would be fatal to anyone. She's lying.
It’s supposedly gasoline, not petroleum (crude oil) that she’s drinking. And I suppose you could ingest small amounts without immediate harmful effects (like the people who stupidly siphon fuel by sucking on a hose). But I still smell bullshit. Gasoline-scented bullshit.

Petroleum spirit is what Americans gall gasoline. They're all hydrocarbon based substances which makes them all highly toxic, no matter how refined.

Petroleum spirit is what Americans call gasoline.
I’m American, and I’ve never heard anyone call it that. We call it gasoline, frequently (and somewhat confusingly) shortened to “gas.” Petroleum means natural crude oil as it’s pumped from the ground. “Petroleum spirit” sounds like something from the 1890s.
