My vacation is just about over.

Well, Hubby and I are sitting at JFK, waiting for our plane, having gotten here hours early due to my paranoia about security lines. Check-in had no wait; security had NO wait. We literally walked right up.

Five days in DC, and we saw more than we had hoped but still nowhere near everything. But we did meet denizens of the Board, which was very fun to put faces with names. Hubby, not a BBS'er, was really impressed with the fine quality of those he met.

NYC was huge but small at the same time. We waked a lot, and took the subway a bit. Not too hard to manage, but sometimes we were just trying to stay out of the crowd's way.

Very glad we finally had this vacation, though I think my feet will never forgive me. If I had to live I one of these cities, I would opt for DC. Just overall the more beautiful.

Oh, 2d Avenue Deli was better than Katz's, hands down.

Glad you had a good time, and that you were able to visit DC! Hopefully one day you'll be able to return and see everything you didn't have time for on the first round.

Glad you had a good time. I absolutely love DC. I would be happy to visit a couple of times a year. Such a beautiful city, and just so much history. The only drawback to the place is all the damn politicians. ;) :D

Both great places to visit but I woulnd't want to live in either. I'm more of a nature boy than a city slicker.

I agree Smoothie, I don't think I'd want to live in DC. Although a vacation home in Alexandria wouldn't hurt my feelings. King Street is almost a destination in itself.

Back at home...

So much to do, and kinda all at once instead of spread out! Get bills paid that were waiting, get some FOOD in the house, sort through mail, catch up online, but the time-taker is getting the photos uploaded, organized, and “adjusted.” We must have over 1500 pictures. We just took a bunch, knowing that most would be “eh” and unused. I figure I’ll straighten them out and also make a “best of” folder in iPhoto.

I totally agree. My goal is to be a hick.

I grew up in a suburb of NYC, and went to college there. Flannel shirts and a canoe suit me.
