Potentially U.S. backed coup in Mali

Normally they are. And I'm sure you can provide evidence of the Reagan admin. specifically ordering the Contras to rape, murder and torture people?
If you're aware of evil and allow it to not only continue, but keep funding it, that makes you just as guilty.

Remember, this is the same group of people that were arguing that a dedicated Baptist minister (Martin Luther King Jr.) supported abortion.
Okay. I'm going to use small words so that you'll understand. No one said he outright supported it. You claimed he was against it, you were called to proved it, and failed. Saying that there isn't evidence of someone being against something is not the same as saying they supported it. For anyone with a working brain, it isn't a hard concept to understand.

Have you ever heard of sarcasm?
Yes, it is also completely impossible to show using text. Especially since it doesn't stand out or contrast from the other claims you have made.

Perhaps we need an emoticon for that!

The only thing of substantial geopolitical interest in Mali is that Randgold Resources have most of their mining operations there. Their market capitalisation has halved since the coup from about £10bn to about £5bn. I can't think of any reason the US would want to sabotage RRS, so I doubt the US have any interest in initiating a coup. If anything, Mali's democratic government was very pro-Western.

Please don't bring facts into this discussion based on insane beliefs.

Why isn't this in TNZ?
Because some posters can't take the heat.

That isn't an excuse. I remember back in the day many a political and controversial threads getting shut down in MISC and the other fora because they belonged in TNZ. This thread should be shut down, or at least moved to TNZ where it belongs. :)
I agree, TNZ is best when there is an actual discussion. But I think they changed the rules here to allow it. We have a lot of posters who refuse to post there, don't know how awesome and free it is or just can't handle it. Yet they want to have political discussions, since it doesn't fit in anywhere else it goes here.

Shame TNZ is HBO and this is CBS.

Ah. See back in the days of free reign MA and QSF there was always calls from MISC members who disliked TNZ for them to be allowed to have political and sensitive subjects in MISC, that constant harping was what lead to the rule changes in TNZ, which begat The Badlands, prior to the rise of Tbonz and the resurrection of The Zone.

I still say they should be forced to bring it to The Zone. That is the proper fora for it. We can't talk about TV shows in MISC, can we? We can't talk about Fan Fiction. We can't talk about the new trek movie.

Everything has its place, and if you want to talk about it you should take it there.

If I had my way I would force people into TNZ. I don't think it would work without some type of Saw-type situation though.

The discussions here seem pretty reasonable, nonconfrontational and productive. Especially regarding political and national issue topics which seem to turn into bloodbaths at most places online.

If this was PoliticalHotwire, on this thread we'd have 30 warnings, a dozen deleted posts, and three bans by now.

Bonzie just needs to OK you the power. Start moving all these threads into the zone. People will move there or get the idea and stop posting up MISC with fora inappropriate threads.

AP doesn't moderate this forum. One of those who actually do has already pointed out that this is not an "inappropriate" forum for political discussions.

That doesn't help the rest of us, not members of the board meeting in your special room...

Which isn't saying much. MOST of the world's soldiers have received some form of training from the US.

Captain Amadou Sanogo, received extensive training in the U.S. from 2004-2010."

This not just some training.

Isn't that the legitimate role of a federal govt? To try to influence the formation of foreign govt. friendlier to your own?
If so the US should be open about its relationships wiyh dictators and stop talking about any sort of democracy promotion.

Less people would psot about politics if we would be forced into the TNZ.

What. The. Fuck? :wtf:

Do you think it's a legitimate role of the US government to topple foreign nations' legislatures and instate their own puppet governments? I mean, one thing is arguing for it on a pragmatical ground (which is generally despicable, except maybe on grave humanitarian concerns), one thing is thinking it's legitimate. :wtf:

I agree.

I'm 100% on board with you on this point.:)
Apart from your blatant disregard of anything ethical which is not really anything new at this point, your big friend Jesus was a bit of a commie. Sharing everything with his fellow hippies in that little commune, not taking money for his healing services, saying nasty things about rich people not going to heaven, throwing the guys with the money out of the temple ... if he were alive today you would advocate to send the Delta Forces after him.

I doubt it. From some of the posters here, I would figure that Jesus would be too busy marching for abortion and homosexual rights

Remember, this is the same group of people that were arguing that a dedicated Baptist minister (Martin Luther King Jr.) supported abortion.

At any rate, I'm not Jesus. He isn't running for office. And I have my own agenda.
Thanks for admitting to not give a crap about what Jesus said despite using words like "Christian nation". Reactionary bullshit always stinks to high heaven.
Wicked people always need an unethical political ideology in order to not feel responsible. That's how fascism worked and that's how Milosevic and his "court poet" worked:

People nothing is forbidden in my faith
There is loving and drinking
And looking at the Sun for as long as you want
And this godhead forbids you nothing

The coup in Mali seems to come from unrest in the Tuareg population. And this appears to come from the attacks on the Tuareg by the new regime the Qataris and NATO installed in Libya. The democrats in Libya are virulently racist and unbelievably murderous, as is well established by their record of lynching black people from the very start.

The democrats are also engaging on assaults on the Tuareg. The Tuareg are nomadic and the Libya/Mali border is something of a fiction. Qaddafi treated the Tuareg fairly well, unlike the democrats. From the initial reports it appears that Tuareg elements in the military are basically trying to fort up by establishing a secure area in the Mali part of their living area. This policy would be doomed to failure in the long run, of course. But the initial reports may be propagandistic and the coup is aimed against the Tuareg and the claims of Tuareg involvement a Big Lie. The French have claimed they will not intervene but theirs is not a notably truthful government.

Mali's main interest for the global economy is uranium.
