There is a scenario from Parallels, and in a few Myriad Universe settings, were Riker became Captain upon killing Picard at the cliffhanger of "Best of Both Worlds". Now, I love the idea of Captain Riker, but something that's bugged me is how could Riker, even in these parallel realities, have ended up killing Picard as Locutus?
Because its not like the situation was that in the normal reality, he didn't order them to fire, and in the alternate reality he did, thus leading to the death of Picard. He ordered them to fire, but the thing was, the Borg had already read Picard's thoughts, so whatever technothingy they had planned to destroy the cube (can't recall) they modulated or whatever to adapt to. So how would that not occur even in the parallel reality? What really changed to permit the destruction of the cube and Locutus?
