Mystique only goes so far before it segues into boredom. Rommies are past that point.
Klingons don't have any mystique left. What they have is incoherence - are they the nasty TOS guys or the hi-larious space pirates of TNG onwards? Personally I can see the value of both (does anyone not love Martok?) and the divergence can be chalked up to different centuries. It's okay if they're not static.
