Eva Green cast as female lead in Dark Shadows

^ I thought you might have that reaction!!! I am actually getting excited for this...hopefully it won't turn out to be another Burton disappointment.

Come on, why weren't you guys standing up for the Land of the Lost?

I don't mind if something that was serious gets turned into a comedy, or vice versa. I don't mind if something is adapted for a new generation.

I mind if something is a piece of shit. Ie, Land of the Lost.

Looks like fun to me. I have no familiarity with any of the series, but as a novice and a Depp/Bonham Carter/Burton fan, it looks like a lot of fun. I love Edward Scissorhands, and Beetlejuice, and this looks like something more along those lines.

It looks pretty funny. I've never seen the original show so I've no idea how it compares. I've only seen the short lived remake tv series and that was ultra serious IIRC.

A close family friend who is a hardcore "Dark Shadows" fan is really looking forward to this after I showed him the trailer. Then again, he is also a big Burton fan and kind of expected the take we seem to be getting with this.

It looked sort of funny, the same way that "Addams Family Values" did. That being said, I'm disappointed that it had little of the old Burton stylization or quirk about it. The directing looked, well, generic, which is one thing you don't expect from Tim Burton.

Basically, DS is being used a raw material for a Tim Burton movie. Not necessarily a bad idea, and possibly more commercial than doing yet another serious remake.

I'm right there with you KB. I'm currently watching the series and couldn't be more disappointed in the approach they have taken with the movie. It looks like the majority of people are liking what they are seeing but to see the series turned into this....I don't know. I was okay with hearing about it having comedy in it but I was hoping for more of a dark comedy angle instead of some of the straight up comedic stuff I'm seeing in the trailer.

The trailer was not what I expected, but I liked it and am still looking forward to the film.
There are also a few shots in the trailer that make me think that they played up the comedy angle of the film and that there will be some dark moments as well.
