I recently got connected to pay TV and it is so great to be able to see Voyager, DS9, TNG again! And some new episodes of Enterprise too, fantastic!

Being out of the 'trek loop' for a good half a decade, I'm not real sure where we are at right now. Is Enterprise still the 'latest' Star Trek, or is there another series in production? I saw the latest Star Trek movie a couple of years ago - bloody fantastic, I loved it, way to cast Harold as Sulu and that guy from CSI as Piker. Is there another on the way???

Enterprise is a cool series. I've never seen it before .. the English guy looks evil but I would totally do that Vulcan bird.

Bit of both. I've been away a few years and I'm not really sure what Trek is 'up to', if you understand me. Are they still making new Enterprise eps?

Enterprise had 4 seasons only, it is over. It is also VERY good, especially seasons 3 and 4 which took a totally new direction from the first two seasons.

They are making a new movie, ST:XII which follows on from the one you saw a few years ago.

You can also watch the Star Trek Christmas Special from last year, it has Q as Santa Claus. Reviews were mixed.

Another movie's filming now, and will be out in March 2013. No new series on the horizon, I'm afraid.

The new movie will also have a videogame prequel, out early next year. There are also monthly novels continuing from where the various series' ended. And a comic retelling TOS episodes, but slightly differently with the versions of the characters from the last movie.

And Pike wasn't the guy from CSI, although they look damn similar.

THIS IS CETI ALPHA V!!!

*er*

This is where we are in the stream of time:

1966-1969 Star Trek TOS
1979 Star Trek: The Motion Picture
1982 Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan
1984 Star Trek: The Search for Spock
1986 Star Trek: The Voyage Home
1989 Star Trek: The Final Frontier
1991 Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country

1987-1994 Star Trek: TNG
1994 Star Trek: Generations
1996 Star Trek: First Contact
1998 Star Trek: Insurrection
2002 Star Trek: Nemesis

1993-1999 Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

1995-2001 Star Trek: Voyager

2001-2005 Star Trek: Enterprise - Continuity wise this is a prequel series taking place BEFORE TOS.

2009 Star Trek (The JJ Abrams movie)

In the Star Trek timeline we are after Voyager and after the movie Nemesis. The 2009 movie states to be depicting adventures of the TOS crew in an alternate reality/timeline.

I'm guessing this is to neatly dodge continuity problems??

Yep. They wanted to go back to the original crew, but at the same time be able to do whatever they wanted with them. The solution: Meddlers from the future. As Spock says, "Whatever our futures might have been, if the time continuum was disrupted, our destinies have changed"

Exactly. The characters' futures are no longer locked in stone. Soran might not kill Kirk. Spock might marry Uhura. They've got a blank check to rewrite the history of Star Trek.

May 2013, not March.
