Any interest in official LEGO Star Trek sets/collectibles?

I'm curious about how much interest there would be for official licensed Star Trek Lego sets or collectibles. While there have been hundreds of Star Wars Lego sets and the license has been extremely successful, no Star Trek set has ever been made, despite Star Trek fans being at least as mad about collectible toys as SW fans are. Mega Bloks had the Trek license for a little while in 2004 and only ever made one set, a relatively crappy Enterprise-D.

If there's enough interest, there is a way to tell Lego that the Star Trek community wants ST Lego: Lego CUUSOO. It's a website where people can submit Lego set ideas, and the most voted for are commercialized by Lego. These can include any possible license: the Minecraft community has already successfully supported the creation of a Minecraft Lego set which will be released in March. If Minecraft can do it, Star Trek fans can have Lego sets as well!

Anyway, I'm not here to promote any specific project but if you're interested in either suggesting a ST Lego idea, or supporting existing ideas and make a Star Trek set happen (and perhaps more than one, if the first is successful) then head to http://lego.cuusoo.com/ and search for Star Trek. You should find a number of neat creations!

While my kids love legos, and we have bought a few Star Wars lego sets, I probably wouldn't buy any Star Trek lego sets. They just don't know Star Trek.

Something I would be extremely interested in however would be a Lego Star Trek video game. The Lego SW, Indiana Jones, and Batman games have been big hits in our family. I eagerly await the Lego Lord of the Rings game.

I've even tried planning out the different levels that a Star Trek lego game would have.

I would love Star Trek Lego! Ok there aren't many small ships/shuttles/fighters that you could get full sets of, but there are loads of interiors that could be made, plus all the Trek aliens. Then just have loads of different era uniforms as well (so you could have the Enterprise-D bridge with First Contact uniforms).

I'd have to go the DS9 sets!

I'm hoping for ships sets rather like what Vance has that are smoother surfaced.

My thoughts exactly. I might actually buy them if there are ships, and I don't mean out of proportion with a bridge inside like those Action Fleet sets from a while back. It would finally give Lego the incentive they need to make curved pieces of various sizes, curved smooth pieces, and hopefully pieces to make phaser arrays with.

And for the record, I think that there are more than enough small craft. There are all of those shuttlecraft, there is the Danube class (though in mini fig scale, that might actually end up pretty big, if they were to actually give it the correct proportions), the Peregrine class assault fighter (again, might end up pretty big), and assuming they can get permission, there is the Valkyrie. And this is only Federation craft.

KRE-O Star Trek will be perfectly acceptable to me. I've been impressed with the KRE-O Transformers sets (I particularly liked the Starscream set). The pieces are a little slicker and a little shinier than LEGO bricks, or at least they're shinier than the way I remember LEGO being, though they do feel like recent LEGO bricks, like the ones in the Alien Conquest sets. (The most LEGO-like, in terms of feel, has to be the Doctor Who Character Building bricks.) I'll feel no shame in buying KRE-O Star Trek. :)
