Stop Joseph Kony 2012

If you have facebook, twitter, or spend time on youtube you've probably seen this. To my surprise it's not been posted here yet (unless I missed it and the search function is lying to me).

Big grassroots movement to put an end to Kony and the LRA.

Spread it around.

Never heard of it. What is this about? Yet another crazy libertarian conspiracy theory?

Joseph Kony is the leader of the Lords Resistance Army, a bunch of psychos who want to kill and rape their way into making Uganda an Old Testament state.

Basically, you know the machete-happy guy in Casino Royale who gives Le Chiffre the money to invest and fights Bond in the hotel stairwell? He's the PG rated version of Kony. Idi Amin: The Next Generation.

So, no, nothing to do with US politics or Libertarianism.

He is a dangerous theocratic maniac who needs a deer slug in the head to make Africa a happier place, but sharing a bad amateur Youtube vid by a delusionally wannabe auteur isn't going to do it.

Although the people spreading this probably mean well, I don't see it accomplishing anything. I'm also not watching a 30-minute propaganda piece.

You seem to be the first to post it here.
Makes you wonder.

No but the more people that know about it (I think thats the point get the info out there) some where some time he may be stopped, sad thing is some one will pick up were this nut job left off there always is.

Yeesh, so having read a little more about this (including Sky's links), this sounds like the latest fad in "slacktivism."

Thank you Sky. And yeah Robert Maxwell hit the nail on the head. :)

'Slacktivism', I like that.

I don't think people will devote half an hour to a YT video without some idea of what it's about, let alone be motivated to do... well, what?

Oh there's some psycho guy in charge of an African/Asian country somewhere who kills his people and treats them really badly?

Gosh. This just in, the sky is blue!

I wonder where the "stop the genocides in durfur" campaigns are or any other issue going on in the world. It seems like we're the police state everywhere and I'm not sure if this issue is as important as all the other issues. Also, I'm probably not going to watch it because it's a half hour propaganda piece but if anyone supports this, more power to you. I just kinda wish we had more campaigns like this for home issues, and I'm not talking about the occupy wall street fad either.

Obama sent 100 U.S. troops to Uganda to help hunt this guy down, before it became the latest internet cause celebre.

I was just on Youtube and Facebook and this whole thing is everywhere. Like I said, where are the other "stop the mad men around the world" campaigns. Why is this one so special.
