Thanks again to BK for nominating me to chose this month's contest. And thank you all who participate.
That's not her style I can tell you
That ain't my woman
That's not her style I can tell you
Because I'm her man
- That's Not Her Style (apologies to Billy Joel)
Big science fiction franchises tend to have their own "look" or "style" that distinguishes them from everyone else. You may not recognize the photo but you can quickly surmise the image is from Star Trek, Star Wars, etc... A year ago February the challenge was "Gerry Anderson's Star Trek."
This month, we're going to revisit and expand on that theme by taking an image from Star Trek and reinterpreting it into the style of another science fiction franchise; OR, take something from another franchise and reinterpret it in Star Trek's style.
What would the Enterprise look like as part of BSG's "rag-tag fleet?" What would a Firefly class ship look like in the Star Trek universe?
Creations need not be limited to starships. Costumes, props, and sets are just as much a part of the visual style of any series. Maybe we'll finally get to see what that TOS Trek Rhodian (Greedo) looks like. Are their really giant sandworms on Vulcan?
One last note - Star Trek doesn't always mean 'Starfleet' or 'Federation.' We may get to see Imperial Klingons or Romulan Eagles.
At the risk of offending The Beatles,
Well, shake it up, baby, now
(Shake it up, baby)
Twist and shout
(Twist and shout)
C'mon, c'mon, c'mon, c'mon, baby, now
(Come on baby)
Come on and work it on out
(Work it on out)
- Twist and Shout
