Wow, that does sound awful. Except for the hot Native American sister. I may consult YouTube.

Not familiar with his acting, but he looks too pretty (couldn't be as bad as the guy in the movie, though). That guy who plays Dyson on Lost Girl might work.

Okay, I looked it up. The Lone Ranger tv-movie ran back in 2003. And my memory was deceiving me: The Ranger was actually played by Chad Michael Murray from One Tree Hill, not one of the Supernatural boys. (I think I got it mixed up with the "Young McGyver" pilot)

And, for the record, Tonto's hot sister was named "Alope," at least according to IMDB.

It was filmed. I'm not sure if it ever aired.

    yep! http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0113036/

IIRC, the young mcGyver was the old one's nephew.

^ Kinda like the James Bond Jr cartoon (the hero was 007's nephew).

I wish they could just make a good Lone Ranger movie. Just play it straight with no ridiculous supernatural elements or needless CGI. A classic western-style movie. It is one of the few things I would pay to see in the theaters.

The plot for "The Legend of the Lone Ranger" was actually pretty good, but the production values were so darn cheap, it was an embarrassment. Also the lead actors were hideous.

And don't forget that horrible rhyming narration, which just kept going on and on . . . .

And Jack Wrather and Bonita Granville trying to get Clayton Moore out of the mask when they got the rights to the character, silly producers. One of the more ridiculous moves by film makers that I can think of.

^^ That was absolutely hideous. I didn't know that was Bonita Granville. I like her.

She was Wrather's wife, according to wiki. I have no idea how much mutual involvement might have been in the decision. I guess 20/20 hindsight makes the move seem an obvious public relations disaster. The old series was long gone, and they may not have thought that the public would be still so attached to the image of Clayton Moore in the part. They simply may not have anticipated the amount of distaste the move could have.

    Ho hum, Silver!

Emphasis on the hum. If we don't get the William Tell Overture, is it the Lone Ranger?

Adam Beach for Tonto, Sean Maher for the Lone Ranger and Johnny Depp for the evil cattle baron who want to hog all the roles, er, range.

True story: I actually saw The Legend of the Lone Ranger and Raiders of the Lost Ark for the first time on same night. Guess which one impressed me more.

^^ Raiders of the Lost Ark? What's that?

Probably, but just to do something like that to Clayton Moore is just mean spirited as well as stupid.

Cool. Maybe we'll be getting some shots of the actors in character before too long.
