Pictures leaked!!!

The reason for the Darth Vader-eske masks in the first movie deleted scenes and concept art, was so JJ's team wouldn't have to answer the ridged or none ridged Klingon question.

Maybe he's decided. It doesn't matter really. Kirk and crew could always tell if a man was Klingon by looking at them. DS9 made it this a topical inside joke of Trek. I already ignore ENT and it's retcons.

Well he certainly doesn't look like a Klingon to me. Or Khan, for that matter. And he definitely doesn't look like "Captain Ronald Tracy." :guffaw:

Remember one of the writers said way back that we would recognize a specific popular character that appeared in season 1 of the original series. What villians can we narrow it down to?

That depends on their definition of "popular." I'd assume that means real-people-popular, not Trekkie-popular, since appealing to the mass audience has been one of their chief goals so far.

Just for fun, here's my list of S1 Villains, in Descending Order of Popular Awareness. Some of these are known more for being archetypes, but I included everyone in the interests of completeness.

1) KHAAAAAN!!!!!
2) Kor, aka, any badass Klingon
3) Mark Lenard's Romulan commander
4) Talosians, aka, evil aliens with big veiny heads that wear robes
5) Landrau, aka, evil computer that runs things from behind the curtain like the Great and Powerful Oz
6) The Gorn, aka, Guy in a Lizard Suit
7-8) Kirk, after being exposed to a crazy space virus, tied with Spock, after being exposed to a crazy space virus
9) Harry Mudd
10) Gary Mitchell
11) Edith Keeler (for helping the Nazis win WWII)
12) Trelane, aka, insane godlike alien
13) Kodos the Executioner (not to be confused with Kodos the Presidential Candidate from The Simpsons)
14) The Horta
15) Charlie X
16) The Salt Monster
17) Evil Kirk, split off from Good Kirk by a transporter accident
18) The Eminiar, aka, the people who invented Suicide Booths
19) Lazarus
20) The giant flying fried eggs that make you go crazy
21) Finnegan
22) Baby Balok
23) Spock, after getting hit in the face with spores from the LSD plant
24) Dr. Roger Korby
25) Dr. Tristan Adams
26) Finney
27) Samuel T. Cogley - sadly lost to history :(

Don't forget Decius in season 1.

Looks windy. That's about all I can say.

Oh, that and they're defintiely on the wreckage of the S.S. Botany Bay.

I just limited the list to the main villain in each episode (if there was an identifiable villain at all). A secondary villain would be getting pretty obscure, considering that he's supposed to be "popular."

Anyway, I've got my heart set on Cumberbatch in a lizard suit. :p

HEY, we so need to caption these pics, as it's all we got for now of the new film....

Yes ?

22) Baby Balok

...

I would like to see a "where are they now" with Baby Balok all grown up -- and of course portrayed by Clint Howard.

Ron Howard would of course direct that Star Trek Film, because as we all know Ron always includes his brother Clint in his movies.

****************

On a bit of a side note, I realize that "Puppet Balok" was supposed to be the nightmarish one, and "Baby Balok" was supposed to be the cute and cuddly one...

...but how many other people besides me was EXTREMELY creeped out (I mean nighmares and all) by Baby Balok, but weren't phased in the slightest by the image of supposedly "scary" Puppet Balok?

The scenes were pulled because the writer's thought the Rura Penthe theme would work much better in the sequel. Evidently, they have a mind-blowing secret to be revealed.

Did they say it would be a villain or just a popular character?

I thought JJ said that the Rura Penthe scenes slowed the pace of the movie and confused the test audience to what was happening in the story?

^ Lizard underpants.

(That's my revenge for your Doomsday Codpiece. Though you probably like that mental image)

Underpants, okay, but not lizard - they're made out an interlocking mass of flying fried egg parasites...

Gotta be a villain. 1) there are too many protagonists in the cast to begin with - poor McCoy is going to get short shrift again, isn't he? - and 2) Spock his fighting with him! Or does that mean Spock is the villain because he's wearing flying fried eggs underpants?

Here is your wish for Baby Balok all grown up, I hope you relish this, as much as I.
