Eva Green cast as female lead in Dark Shadows

Camelot was so fucking long ago that she will be middle aged before this starts.

I've seen her naked as a teen, and I've seen her naked as a 20something, and somehow I think this is where I'll be finding her naked as a 30something in the pilot of Dark Shadows.

Filming started and wrapped last year - the same year Camelot aired, which isn't so long ago, now, is it?

It's a movie, not a pilot. And Eva Green was 22 when she filmed The Dreamers, not a teenager.

1. I've pushed my memories of Camelot so far down under my casual mulch, that I'm almost sure it aired before Flash Forward, if I must order from which jobs that whatsmecallit has been shitcanned from.

2. If a 16 year old can trick me into sleeping with her by perfectly pretending to be a 22 year old, then a 22 year old can trick me into not sleeping with her because she's perfectly pretending to be a 16 year old.

3. This thread has been unflushable for at least 3 years, that I've already assumed that Dark Shadows is going to be shelfed ratherthan be made into anything resembling...

Bah hum bug.

FlashForward aired in 2009-2010, Camelot aired in 2011.

This thread was started in February last year when Dark Shadows was in pre-production. The movie was then filmed in May to September last year and it'll be released on the 11th May this year. That's a regular length of time for a big budget movie to take to get to the screen from green light to release (although it was in development for some years before that, which is again standard).

Bah hum bug.
Boo!

You see what a comedy Dark Shadows does? Anarchy! Dang you Burton!

And Depp looks damn freaky, like the Mad Hatter in nightwear. Oh boy!

Much of the show's comedy was unintentional... :D

...but I'd agree with the "don't-freak-out-w/o-more-info" approach, though that's my usual approach to these things. Makes me wonder why they even let me on the intertubes. :p

P.S. His name's Guy Gardener. And you were expecting...? It's like complaining about Rosanne's rendition of the national anthem. :D

i think a lot of fans are already freaking out because there is no trailer or even a poster and the movie is due in two months or so.

Exactly, P!

I know this news needs a lot more than a grain with it. However, the fact that a proposed maybe comedy edit or presumed comedy marketing campaign is the only thing we've gotten when the film is t-minus 2 is a bit scary in this day and age. I mean, some films we see things up to a year in advance.

What gives that they are letting some comedy crap rumors come out this close to the wire? And come on, what we have seen of Depp has been worrisome indeed. Unless I get some serious trailerness soon, it will be time to freak indeed.

This was like when the SyFy channel pulled that modern boy Phantom on a purple motorcycle out of their asses. Really? 200 years of comic story and that is what you come up with? With all the wealth of Dark Shadows material available, why would they go comedy and/or drop the marketing ball? I mean, make it straight and market it straight. It is a gothic half hour soap opera that has survived 50 years by just doing what it does best. No need to f with the formula.

I must console myself with my new sets 13 and 14! :)

All movies have crazy rumours and untrue plots reported on the web. It is goes with the hype of whatever movie it is. Like I said when you first posted that link, the same guys reported to describe a trailer from "Man of Steel" which is not coming for another four months. Some films have more security and are "locked down" more than others depending on how "big" they are. They also can't shut down every rumour that pops on the 'net that some fan makes up. They're PR department would be working around the clock to do that! LOL

Given the attention to detail and faithfulness of the character looks we've seen, I find it hard to believe they're just going to trash what's gone before.

Well, technically, it survived for several years back in the seventies. Aside from the short-lived NBC revival, it hasn't really been a going concern for decades.

And I say that as someone who watched it religiously as a kid.

This would hardly be the first time that a remake has failed to respect the source material.

well the original cast members who have cameos in this spoke highly of their time on the set. i kinda doubt they'd be all enthused about this movie if it made them grumpy.
