That's such a common type of scene, though. So I don't know if I'd be too critical of it being a repeat of something Raimi did. Sure I could see where some people might call if cliched (I don't really have a problem with it, but I could see where others might), but it plays out differently enough from the SM2 scene that it doesn't bother me.
EDIT: I wonder if that scene leads up to the clip from the trailer where he webs up to Gwen's room, and she asks how he got up there?

I would agree with you to some extent. I mean, this is hardly like seeing him run up the wall for the first time or seeing web fluid leak from his wrists or seeing him swing from his web. It's not like every superhero movie, or even every Spider-man movie, must feature Obligatory Shot of Hero Being Refused Admission by Jobsworth Man.
It's particularly odd, I think, that they've chosen to make this the first full clip to be released from the movie. Indeed, it's a slightly odd clip in its own right (not one with Spider-man? Not even one with Peter interacting with another lead character?), but particularly odd given that it does echo a scene from one of Raimi's movies.
Maybe the Spider-man franchise is going to become the next Bond/Batman/Super-man franchise?

Captain Craig...no need to be upset. We knew what you meant and at least for me, I've disagreed with your take on this film from the start. No one has chastised you for being critical of this movie, that's your right. We have the right to disagree with you though as well, which we have, just as you've asserted your arguments about why you feel this movie is pointless, others have asserted why it exists and will be relevant.
I thought the clip was designed to give us a sense of the Peter Parker role myself, and a glimpse of Andrew's performance in the character. I got very much an Ultimate Spidey vibe from the clip more than anything else. I think it was smart for this to be the first clip. The audience is going to connect with Peter Parker anyway. Just as the comic book audience does. We already know he's Spider-Man. That's for the action stuff we'll see in the film. We need to connect and react to Peter and his struggles. Inevitably there will be comparisons between Rami's and Webb's films, just as there were for both versions of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo". Perhaps I'll have the same reaction to "The Amazing Spider-Man" as I did with that film after I saw it, but at least for now, this movie has done nothing to uspet me.

I already stated I concede certain elements would have to be repeated. This scene of Peter being verbally assaulted by "Working Joe" does not help bolster claims of originality for the film.

Just an intersting tidbit -My Brother is a next door neighbor of director Marc Web's father. They live in Madison, Wisconsin.
