Diagnose my pain!

Because I don't go to doctors for minor aches and pains that I know they can't do anything about. I haven't been to a doctor in 6 years.

I guess we all look at the issue of seeing a doctor influenced by our own personal experiences. I do not know everyone here on these boards sufficiently to know how much they are having a little fun or perhaps grumbling to friends here about an annoying minor injury, so I will admit I may have missed the subtleties here!

A good buddy of mine bragged about never going to a doctor because, "... they're only gonna find something wrong." A few years later, at 38 years old, he keeled over and fell out of his chair at a Sunday dinner. He died of a stroke a few moments later- on the floor in front of his wife and 3 kids. It was pretty awful for his family and friends- all who cared about him.

At some point, you may wish to start going to the doctor for a physical once in a while, even when you are feeling healthy. I imagine you're probably a good bit younger than 38, but I would heartily encourage you to think about regular physicals as you get older! I want us all to keep happy, healthy & wise! I'm glad you're feeling better! :)

I don't think I've had a physical since I started high school. Maybe college. Whenevr the last required one was.

I'm only 26, and I am in very good health. I really only go to the doctor when I know I need antibiotics. I know my body well enough to know what's wrong with me (the only disease I ever get is strep throat, and even then I haven't gotten it since I had my tonsils removed 8 years ago).

And for the record, my threads are very rarely serious. I just wish people could hear my tone and see my face when I post. I used to be so much better at this. :(

^but yeah, six years without seeing a doctor isn't a good thing.

I sympathize with you on this, RoJoHen! I labor to get my business emails (and certain personal emails) written as clearly as possible because things don't always get taken as I want them to be taken. Especially when I inject a little bit of humor. Tone is hard to convey in an email, and that is a real pity!

A last note I'll add before I go is that not all medical conditions are things that affect us in a way that we can feel on a physical level of awareness. Things like blood tests have caught some conditions with a few of my friends and family that never would have been "felt" until things had progressed to a stage further than would have been good. Be careful and armed with knowledge!

Yeah...I know...I should probably do that. It's just hard to convince myself to do it because I pretty much come from the healthiest family ever. There is no history of cancer or heart disease or diabetes or anything. The only thing that tends to happen is that our knees give out when we get to be about 80 years old.

I'm gonna need to put my hands all over you to see where it hurts ... ;)

Not the *only* one. But then, you don't let me get that close to get you.

If you were shooting for sort of stalkerish and over the top creepy, you nailed it.

Not everybody enjoys either reading this kind of comment, or being the target of it.

Dial it back.
"Stalkerish"? "Over-the-top creepy"? WTF??

Someone needs a sense-of-humor transplant.
