Ideas for my Trek/Dr. Who Crossover

Wow. I would love to see more of the Hawking.

I'm a little confused about how to place what you're doing here. This is some sort of crossover between the STAR TREK "prime Universe" and some kind of Dalek-centric "alternate reality" of the DOCTOR WHO Universe, right? I'm also confused about "when" this story/stories would be set. So, Cassie is a Federation officer stationed on a starship, or a starship captain, or some kind of Federation agent?

Part of me thinks Cassie belongs on some kind of scout-class vessel, about the size of Forbin's Minmus or something smaller. Of course, depending on the era and the position Cassie holds, I could see her on a ship like Sisko's Defiant.

To answer your questions in that order:

The story is a cross between the Universe of Star Trek (pre-JJ Star Trek, least up to when Romulas snuffs it), and Doctor Who. What I mean by that is you'll see Daleks, you'll see Cybermen, and maybe the Doctor himself.

The time it's in is a decade after Nemesis, and just when Romulas is gone and Spock's apparent demise.

Cassy is of a species she knows nothing of, she was raised by humans on a colony world in the Neutral Zone. It was established by one of those expeditions that was forgotten, believed to have perished. Something like those in "Up the Long Ladder", "The Ensigns of Command", "Masterpiece Society" and so on. This colony, though is far from Federation ideals, in that remnants of the the power mongers (Cybus industry from our universe runs it like 'The Company' from Aliens or OCP from Robocop...where we see what Earth would have been like had not the Vulcans came, even some Terra Prime folks founded the government) run it. She has no clue as to what species she came from, due to having been found in a basket one night on that planet, with a note to take care of her.

She is totally brilliant, and has traveled with the Doctor, several times, and she is not really part of Starfleet, but helps out, like how the Doctor helped out with UNIT.

She eventually made a small, custom made ship using technology she learned from the Doctor, the Daleks, and some of her own ideals. She's sorta like Wheeljack from the original Transformers, Gadget from Rescue Rangers, The Doctor, and Washu from Tenchi. And she'll use that ship to arrive at the Starbase that the main hero ship is going to be at. And that ship is able to be run by just herself and her robot sidekick.

And as for the hero ship, it's going to be one made for deep space exploration....with no more Neutral Zone, I can see the exploratory programs going up more. And Laguna, the Vulcan captain (not raised by Vulcans), is going on her first command.

This is the closest that I can do for Romulans, for right now, anyways. Until I can find something more lik e the moderen Romulan uniforms, this is as much as I can do.

I don't know. I think that TNG on TV was always throughly 80s enough that the fashion sense might be a little jarring. Could you see 21st century DOCTOR WHO characters blending in on a starship filled with characters that have 80s hair? I keep thinking TNG had their heyday around 1988-1991. It might be hilarious to see the interactions of characters that clearly look like they don't belong together!

Well, Doctor Eleven dresses like Stan Laurel, and has hair like Shemp Howard, so it's not really going to mean anything.

Plus for my own stories, I'm not the fashion police, so it's somewhat a moot issue. Double that considering I am tossing in anime elements, so you'll be seeing, for example, a crewmen with green hair or crew woman wearing pink lace knee socks with her skirt uniform, or an Andorian with an afro, so it's all good.

He's taking inspiration from the vintage "TV21" Daleks comics of the 1960s, illustrated narratives that depicted the Daleks' forebears as blue skinned humanoids. Even the revered MechMaster used that motif in his "Second Empire" digitally modeled and rendered comic, which can be read here...

Well, I have to admit, Wingsley does have a point. Makes me wonder if the Enterprise-E would have been more appropriate, even though TNG could be considered at its peak when the Enterprise-D was still around.

But this is still going to be so BLEEPING AWESOME!

Anyhow, if you are going for Post-TNG/late 24th Century, then I can definitely say that the Soyuz and Miranda classes are out. It was stated in the episode that the Bozeman appeared in that all Soyuz class vessels were taken out of service, and by now, the Miranda class is way past it's prime, and any vessels that survived the Dominion War that are still in service are probably only going to be used for cargo runs and system patrol, and that is until they are finally decommissioned.

I wouldn't use the Metaluna either, seeing as how I wouldn't make up a new history behind her that would probably contradict the backstory intended by her creator, as well as contradict the creation of the Metaluna herself.
Any vessel created by Cassie would probably be unique, and the best option would be to model a brand new vessel for her, or come up with sketches, and request that someone else make a model out of those.

This leaves the proposed Miranda replacement, the Hawking, the Nautilus class, and the refitted Oberth.

I was under the impression that the Hawking was still a work in progress, but I guess not. But the heavy frigate almost looks like she wasn't quite finished.

The Nautilus class would probably be one of the most likely classes to be used for exploration. I'm not certain what the Hawking is, but she looks like she may be a cruiser. And a ship like the Dumont would probably not be sent into an area of space where she is likely to encounter hostiles, seeing as how she is a surveyor, albeit with upgraded weaponry. At least not without an escort. The Oberth class isn't meant for combat situations, and would likely peter out rather quickly without help. However, I do have my reservations about the Dumont variant, seeing as how she looks better armed than her predecessors. She might be able to fend off small warships, but doubt she would win, at least not without taking damage, and she wouldn't have very good odds against a Warbird or Battleship such as the D'deridex. Then again, the Nautilus isn't very well armed either, though her shields probably would be more advanced.

So I see the Nautilus and Hawking as your best two options, depending on what year your story is set. Keep in mind that the Nautilus class's registries are in the 90000 range, so they are likely to be more common in the 2390s. If your story is set in the 2380s, the Hawking or Oberth refit are your most logical choices.

And again, I'm am very uncertain about saying that the Romulan Bird of Prey is a brand new vessel, when it obviously isn't. I would either find a modern Romulan vessel to use, such as a Norexan class, or make a brand new Romulan vessel.
If you are going with the story that this is supposed to be an experimental brand new vessel, make it just that, with no more similarities to the older Bird of Preys than the Vor'cha to the K'tinga.

What I mean is what sorta ship does a brand new captain, on his or her first command, get?
Do they get to command a brand new class of ship, right out of the prototype testing, or do they get an older ship? Sorta like when a 16 year old gets his or her license, more often than not, they are going to get a used car, due to lack of experience, and all that.

Good point but i ment there as in the whole pic Hope to see more as the Soyuz is my fav design of the late 23rd century and why i used it as a base for my Gadget Hackwrench class ship ^_^
