It just hit breaking news. One laments the perils of drug use and potential lost. May she rest in peace. There's no official cause of death yet, but you have to wonder considering her history.

Just found this out myself. Her decline was really sad. At one point she was just inches away from becoming one of the biggest crossover stars in the world ala Madonna or Barbara Streisand, but we all know certain things got in the way.

She's about my age and I remember well when she first hit MTV and the radio. Back then she seemed like a well adjusted, really pretty, very talented girl. Sad how things turned out.

I'm of that age group, too. I had her albums. She was pretty and well adjusted. Once upon a time. She spoke during interviews of how strict her mother Cissy had been while raising her. She hadn't been allowed to date young. She was supervised and always required to dress like she had respect for herself and have good manners. Then came Bobby Brown.

I had been watching early 90s music videos the other night, and watched "I wanna dance with somebody", remarking how great a talent she was, and it's just so sad to see it all gone, now, and the life that she lived, just *sigh*
