I quit smoking today...

Good work, Admiral M! Stick with it!

I've never been a smoker. I have smoked a few times in my life (cigarettes, cigars, and uh, other stuff) but never really cared for it. Must be a nasty habit to break, though.

What, to stay skinny?

Lung cancer is harder to live with than diabetes.

lol. No, my nerves are shot and my "happy pills" aren't working. Stupid drugs. If anyone ever tries to tell you that taking some little white pill every day will make all of your problems go away, tell them to shove it up their ass....Liars...

Well, that much is true. The pills only work if they are addressing a genuine chemical imbalance (and if your biology is compatible with them--not everyone's is.)

I would argue that if you can only feel good while high on a stimulant, you haven't really addressed the underlying problem at all.

^As for downside, nicotine is still unhealthy. Yes, it is BETTER than all the tar and junk, but there is still a downside.
No more so than caffeine. It's pharmacologically very similar. It is NOT a carcinogen as it is commonly characterized to be.

It's not the most healthy thing you can put in your body, obviously.

BTW, not everyone who uses an e-cigarette uses juice with nicotine. It's certainly not required, and interesting that you automatically assumed I must be getting nicotine from my Riva. I've weaned my own nicotine concentration down from "Extra High" (24mg) to "Medium" (14mg) since I started. I may reduce it further eventually.

I assumed because I don't know any better. I no not thing one about e-cigs or whatever the trendy thing to call them is. I just figured there'd be nic in there or else what is the point for a smoking substitute and/or quit-smoking aid? If it's just the hand-to-mouth habbit part, save money and suck on a straw.

Please forgive my ignorance.

On this, anyway ;)

Ah, that explains why they're not working. I hate to break this to you, but your antidepressants are not suppositories.

:lol:Righto...I won't respond, just laugh and wave...

No big. I didn't mean to sound like I was picking on you but to bring up that it's a common misconception.

Another misconception...sucking on a straw doesn't cut it. Personal Vaporizers or PVs (isn't that a catchy name?) feel like smoking and the nicotine content can be controlled easily by the user. That's what makes it a good substitute for smoking.

Now I have another issue on the smoking front and that is my Mother. She had a brain aneuryism two years ago and took smoking up again after lying in a hospital bed for 3 weeks and being told smoking is a leading cause of aneuryisms. She appeared to force herself back into the addiction.

She may really feel she needs the hit of fulfilling an addiction. It might be better to replace it with another addiction initially, especially as the point is to get her off the aneurysm inducing cigs. What if she put all her smoking funds aside each week and went shopping with it, bought stuff that in her head is too pricey to waste money on but she wants? It's that whole reward yourself thing that people do with addictions, sometimes you need to shift the reward around. Even though obviously it is better to deal with underlying issues which make a person seek that reward sometimes getting them off a specific substance needs to take precedence.

Having an URGE right now. It's keeping me up. Same thing happened last night. Late-night is killer :(

Yeah, today is the worst day yet. I'm pissed at everything, plus the city has the water shut off for 6-8 hours to fix some damn thing, and I'd planed on making today laundry day, plus I need to run the dishwasher.

I'm just a big fat grumpy Gus today. I didn't take my 2-hour walk with Trip. I bet that's playing a role...
