DC's New 52: Reviews and Discussion (Spoilers welcolme and likely)

Mostly how I feel. Action has picked up more in it's last two issues (of the main arc, that is) but I much more enjoy Superman's self-titled book.

All-Star Western is a great book.
Ditto. Kirby I hope you were intrigued enough to search out the other current issues of All-Star Western. Really great read and it looks like he'll be hitting the road at issue #6 or 7 for New Orleans.

Yeah, I am going to pick up the rest of All-Star Western for sure, it's the most intriguing of the new 52 for me right now.
I'm dropping Green Arrow, Dark Night and possibly Aquaman.

It's possible that LGM was being sarcastic or joking guys. So far I haven't come across any serious fan that has bought the New 52 1's for collecting purposes.

I think House of UIster is responding to the Batman: Dark Knight comment. That's just an awful book. Morrison brought back the Golden Age Superman! Perez is just writing him badly in "Superman".

Ahh, I see. I haven't followed Batman since Knightfall, so my only exposure since then has been the cartoons and the Arkham games. Arkham City put me in a Batman mood, and I've always loved Finch's work, so that made my decision there and I've been enjoying it. That there's an Arkham feel to it doesn't hurt at all for me.

It's too bad that his and Jenkins writing don't follow Finch's art work because I'm a big fan of that. The ideas that he's attempted to explore don't interest me. I dropped the first volume of the book after the second issue. Just bad. Worst book in the Bat-Family.

I like how all the Robins there look like sprites in a Japanese RPG Gameboy game.

Pulls for today:

Aquaman
The Dark Knight
The Flash
Superman

(Non DC)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
TMNT Donatello One-Shot

Aquaman and Justice League #5, Legion of Superheroes Secret Origin #4. Still trucking through this first arc with JL before I decide to drop it.

Also trade waiting on JL.
I thought Admiral Young had ditched it as well.
I'm also getting I,Vamp, All-Star Western and JL Dark.

Caught up to last month, plus Batwoman. Animal Man's not two bucks yet, but you know I can't resist me some J.H. Williams the Third.

Legion Lost 4: still good. The art is beautiful; there's this two-page spread of Wildfire and Tyroc, you'd say it was pretty standard if I described it, but nonetheless it's really amazing, it's like light coming out of the page (which is technically the case, I guess, since I read it on an LED screen); there's another bit with Dawnstar that's really cool too. There are a lot of interesting panel compositions throughout. Pete Woods is really expanding his repertoire, and it's good. The story is pretty okay, too. B+.

Flash 4: I still don't know why everyone's so down on Mob Rule. I think the only thing that you can say is that he's not really a typical Flash villain. But in any event, this book's still great. A.

Batwoman 5: Fucking awesome. You know it, we all know it, when are we going to admit it? This is the tops. They even decided it was time to stop coloring Kate Kane like a vampire. A+.

I have a question, though--bit o' spoilers--when Bones and Chase from the DEO track Kate down and make her an offer she can't refuse for government/black ops employment, Batman is kind of pissed at her. She mentions that she knows there are "lines that can't be crossed" and Batman is all, "Yeah, but they'll test you at every turn, blah blah morality." I assume they're talking about homicide. My question is this: does Batman want to beat up soldiers too? God, Batman really is an asshole. Why does anyone like him?

Irredeemable 2-4. I shouldn't even mention it, as it is not a DC book, and it's old, but Mark Waid's alright, you know? B. It'd get higher, but the art, while perfectly functional, is pretty mediocre, and in some cases straight up fucking lazy (CTRL + C is just working smarter, man; yes, it's fine when Barry Kitson does it; shut up).

@Captain Craig...I almost did drop JL after last month. I'm still attempting to stick with my word though that I would stay with it through the first arc. It has been borderline dropped a couple of times thus far.

i feel the same way about JL. at least today's issue was a bit better than the others.

I'm glad I'm not paying $4 a pop for Justice League because it is just a bunch of splashpages. We're five issues in and there's been about two issues worth of story so far. Wow.
