The notion that he wouldn't need rest is "fucking ridiculous".
Well even the Christopher Reeve Superman wasn't all-powerful. He was often shown struggling at different points-- whether trying to catch up with a missle, wincing at an explosion, or getting knocked around by light poles and sewer covers. Hell, after getting knocked senseless by that bus, even taking off seemed to require a bit of effort.
And yeah, he was able to turn the Earth backwards, but he was clearly straining and using every ounce of his power to do it.

It is more "fucking ridiculous" that no one sees that Clark and Superman are the same person, especially considering that Clark and Superman hang out with the same people.
