Indeed, reshoots are often a sign of the studio's increased confidence in a movie - extra money being thrown in to boost scenes that they previously didn't want to spend the $$$ on, because they didn't think they'd get it back.
I always love how people jump to conclusions about this kind of stuff. Everybody always makes a big deal out of it when the do reshoots for a movie like this, but I was under the impression that it was fairly common practice, even when they're aren't major problems.
