What to do on Christmas Day?

Christmas Day condundrum.

FIL and SisterIL will have Christmas lunch at 1pm at FIL place.
We are not invited to lunch but welcome to come up in the afternoon. Son will be working 'til 2/3am C. Eve. and probably not home until the very early hours, so we won't be having Christmas lunch until 3'ish ~ which will hopefully take a few hours.

Obviously I want to spend Christmas Day with Son and be lazy as I'm working most of Christmas.
Man feels he should spend afternoon with FIL and SIL. I feel obliged to go and see them ~ and the word is 'obliged'.

So the logistics are off ~ options?

1) Miss my pressie opening in pj's, bucks fizz, lazy breakfast and go round before they have lunch?
2) Potter down to them later in the afternoon when we are all sleepy and miss the cheesy Christmas film.
3) Do something Boxing Day

Why is it so difficult?

Boxing Day.

If FIL and SIL were adamant about having you all out on Sunday, they would invite you to have lunch with them.

Oooh families and obligation. Tricky, isn't it? I sympathise, having found myself in similar situations over the years. Go over on Boxing Day. Give yourself a break.

Thank you all, your responses have encouraged me to say Boxing Day.
Man will have lunch with us ~ I'm not up for the walk to SIL ~ an hour away!
And as Crassmas Eve and other advise, Son and I will dive into a bottle of Bucks Fizz and let tomorrow come.

Merry Christmas all, and let your obligations not ruin your time.

K'Eh,

Some friends and I decided, weather permitting, to make a Christmas picnic and head out to someplace near the ocean (I live in San Francisco), since the weather's been nice. If it gets nasty, we'll do it on my living room floor. :)

What to do? Try celebrating a Portal 2 Christmas:

Interesting to read in this thread how many people appear not to have read the OP.

Isn't that par for the course of any thread? ;)

Anyway, as for the options, (Even though you've probably made up your mind already), do something on Boxing Day
