Pike to return?

It sounds like a small cameo - where he can be replaced with any other Admiral (note to article writers: Pikey got promoted at the end) should Greenwood turn down the return.

I'd hoped Admiral Pike would play a large part in the movie. But, some Pike is better than no Pike at all! Hopefully he'll be on his feet again, too.

Should Greenwood turn down the part, I'd get a huge nerdy kick out of seeing Scott Bakula as Admiral Archer, complete with the guy who played Daniels as his unnamed aide. Cue awkward moment when Archer spots exiled beagle-killer Scotty on the Enterprise crew (which ultra-hammy Bakula and Pegg would do brilliantly)

As I said in my predictions thread, Pike will likely be passing the torch of guidance to Spock. It makes sense that now Kirk and co. should be more on their own.

His role was essentially like that of Obi Wan, and I suspect that's how he'll continue to be treated.

I really am hoping he doesn't. The character served its purpose and now I want to see the Abramsverse gang without training wheels.

I expected him to return. Don't think he'll be killed off. I wonder if Archer will make an appearance. Wonder if Spock Prime will make an appearance?

It'd be interesting if, when all is said and done with the Abramsverse years from now, that Pike had a larger role in this timeline than he did in the original Prime universe.

I wouldn't be surprised if he is killed in the first 20 minutes of the movie.

Like Captain Robau?

Lol yeah! Or like 'Felicity' in MI:III, or the main character's mother in Super 8. The sacrifice of a partner/mentor figure at the beginning of an adventure is a time-honored (not just JJ) tradition. And if there is a chance that the Talosians play any part in the film, a Pike sacrifice could make sense, and further allow our primary characters to step up.

In most Trek movies, there's an admiral or authority figure giving the crew their orders. Makes sense for it to be Pike, assuming there's such a character in this movie, though it might be nice to see Nogura in this timeline.

Greenwood as Pike is my favorite character of ST09. He has said before that he would do it again if JJ Abrams called upon him. I agree that Pike could be a mentor for Kirk whether in a large or smaller role. Greenwood's idea of a TV series based around his character is something I would definitely watch.

I don't mind seeing Pike again as long as he is central to the story and not just some three-second cameo. But he would not be able to undermine Kirk's command authority. That's the only criteria I would have against seeing him again.
