Isis?

Has it ever been confirmed that Isis in "Assignment: Earth" was played by Victoria Vetri? This is reported as fact all over the internet, including by wikipedia and Memory Alpha, but I seem to recall some debates on this topic.

And, yes, I mean Isis in her human form, not the cat!

I'm pretty certain it isn't Vetri. Here's what I said about it in my blog review of the Mission: Impossible episode Vetri appeared in, "Squeeze Play":

By the way, it’s been alleged — and a lot of websites treat it as fact — that Vetri was the uncredited actress who played the human form of Isis in Star Trek: “Assignment: Earth.” But the evidence for that claim is inconclusive (basically some guy heard that Isis was portrayed by a Playboy Playmate and decided that Vetri, herself a former Playmate, had a similar appearance, and he posted his theory online without any confirmation). And after watching Vetri here, I really don’t think it’s true. In “Squeeze Play,” Vetri had a distinctive speck of pigment on the white of her left eye, and from the pictures I can find online, it looks like it was probably there prior to 1968 as well. But the Isis actress doesn’t have the speck. Also, her eyes are gray or green while Vetri’s are a rich brown. And while “Isis” has a similar bone structure to Vetri, Vetri has a more girlish, innocent look, kinda like Dawn Wells from Gilligan’s Island. Not to mention that, err, “Isis” doesn’t seem to have quite as ample a chest as Vetri. So I just don’t think it’s her.

Really, all the online sources are just derived from that one unconfirmed speculation, because the Internet doesn't have the same kind of fact-checking as legitimate journalism and so guesses and rumors get elevated into "fact" all the time.

Darn, I forgot about the Cat/Girl Isis...I thought it was about TAS and the connection to the following..

Filmation's "Secret of Isis" show from 1975... as played by the lovely Joanna Cameron.

In an incredible coincidence, I watched yesterday the episode of the live actions late '70's Spiderman which featured Ms. Cameron, including one scene of her in a bikini.

It's small world. Not only did I write a novel about DC's version of Isis, but my girlfriend sculpted the official action figure!

Anyway, thanks for the clarification regarding Vetri. I thought I recalled that this "fact" was in dispute. Think I'll avoid perpetuating it in the future . . . .

Isis was played by three black cats, with one named Sambo getting the most screen time. (I assume it was a male, in yet another example of Hollywood transgender animal casting.)

Yeah, that does look like a male cat. Male cats typically have rounder faces due to scent glands in their cheeks.

Well, The Secrets of Isis and TAS were both made by Filmation Associates, so maybe the same designers were working on both. Although I think Filmation's live-action unit was largely separate from the animation unit, so maybe not. Still, both shows had the same producers (Lou Scheimer & Norm Prescott), who would've had approval over the design choices.
