perhaps you could help me with a few random trek questions.....

The questions was "Why are there almost no Vulcans on TNG?", not "Why didn't TNG delve into Vulcan culture?". TOS had a Vulcan in every episode.

Then the question would have been "why is there no Vulcan in the main cast" and the stupid answer to this tautological question would have been "because there is no Vulcan in the main cast".

I wish TNG had used the Unification storyline to explore the Vulcans and Romulans more than it did. That was a story that definitely could have spanned more than the two-parter that we got. That would have been a great opportunity for TNG to explore, in depth, both of those cultures.

At least "Unification" provided some insights into Romulan culture, something which cannot be said about the last Romulan-Vulcan story.

2. Why are there almost no Vulcans on TNG?
If you check Memory Alpha you realize that Vulcans appear in 25 episodes, roughly as often as in the other 24th century series (excluding Tuvok in the case of VOY).
The only series that really focuses upon the Vulcans is ENT.

Bahahahaha!
Omg. That's funny. I think you missed the point......
Nope, you did not understand that I answered a simple question on three different levels.
Go ahead and be a total jerk, I certainly won't answer any of your stupid questions ever again.

But i am Lisa! At least last time i checked...... :p

Who is this that i have stolen her name?
A poster from a long, long time ago.

^And all 3 levels missed the point.

Perhaps the two of you should tell us what question you think you're answering and what these "levels" are.

You both sound like children.

Should be pretty obvious. One can talk about the technical presence of Vulcan characters, whether they are actually in the spotlight or merely in the background and whether the story focuses upon Vulcan culture.

In any case, the question has been asked and answered. In short, there weren't any major Vulcan characters in TNG because Roddenberry didn't want any, under the theory of "been there, done that, somebody still owes me a t-shirt."

Agreed. Don't know why people are being so obtuse about it.

2. Why are there almost no Vulcans on TNG?

The same reason there are almost no Vulcans besides Spock on TOS, I suppose.

3. why, on gods green earth, would Riker grow that stupid beard?

It's Pegasus where he talks to Pressman about how they called him Babyface. Maybe he grew it to give himself some more presence or maturity? Although in BOBW when Deanna refers to him as "seasoned" he seems to hate it, so who knows. I think he probably woke up in an alley somewhere on a backwater planet after lost weekending with Worf and decided to keep it.

Haha! Oh the beard! It is impressive..... I'll give him that, but i was partial to the baby face. ;)

Now I'm off to start more threads that will annoy the super nerds around here with the way they are worded! never mind that the point of the question is obvious to anyone with the slightest bit of social skills!

Toodle oo! :D

Gotta admire your social skills which make you behave like a total jerk.
Sad truth is that there was no point in your question, your are simply pissed off that people provided thoughtful answers to your simple trivia question.
